    FIrst time questions

Id learn to shoot off the left shoulder in your case. Would just be the simpliest, cheapest, and easiest. The Savage 10FCP-K is a great gun out of the box. I have it and itll shoot .5MOA and slightly better when i actually do well. So it is a shooter for sure! Remember you will need money...

    Barrel torque

Sick and early morning isnt the best time for me to think. The 223 wylde was torqued 32-34 range. Not sure what i was thinking when i said 35-40 lol. but i do like the "almost properly aligned but not enough" to "next slot is the answer" as that fits it perfectly

    Barrel torque

I believe they are all a min torque of 30ft-lbs and a max (recommended) of 80ft-lbs. Quick google search listed the same for a 308 barrel. 30ft-lb isnt really that much. its hand tight plus a little bit more from what i remember. Its when you start getting up to 65-80 you notice it :) I have...

    Bullets and brass basic questions

I use Xtreme Plated Bullets pretty much exclusively in handguns. In MY experience (again my own opinion) they are superior to the other plated bullets. The couple i have done cross sections the plating has been thicker than Berry's or Rainier. Nothing wrong with berrys or Rainier though but...

Winter Shell - to ski in

First off I will add to what others have said....never pay retail. Find stuff you like and go try it on locally to see what sizes you fit in (like shoes a 10 in a nike is a 9 in new balance type thing). Then go online and look for LAST YEARS offerings. If you can find one in the size you want...

Is there a good workout regimen for people without access to gym equipment?

I tried insanity and didn't care for it. Only did it for two weeks though. But never really felt like it was for me. The excersises were go for 2 minutes or so but I always felt like I had to rush and use bad form to get more done and if I went slow and focused on form I wasn't getting a good...

Which powder for supersonic 300 blackout in 1:7" twist barrel?

I havent tried it with under 50gr stuff but i use AA5744 for my supersonics (150gr at 2k fps) and my subsonics (208's at 1050). Its very similar to AA1680 but the 5744 is a stick powder.

Need advice for outfitting my Savage 10fcp-k

First off let me tell ya youll love the fcp-k. its what i have and it shoots better than i can! Scope wise mine has a Vortex Viper 6.5-20 on it. Works well for both target shooting and also for more practical shooting (ie shot one target, move to the next that could be at different range). I...

    new to reloading

i agree with this. I have 3 manuals (lee, hornady, and lyman) and the ABC's of Reloading (which is a good read). Between those and powder manufactures data you can get a good and safe load. Any new loads i do i verify with as many sources as i can. Start at the lowest published and work up to...

Ive been reading the reports from the UNSC matches and have to say it looks fun! Might have to come out and watch one time. Dont really have a rifle that would work as of now. My Savage 10 is only a 4 round mag. Suppose i could use my AR but id have to get a different scope (one upper has a 1-4...

Rifle Scopes Scope for long range beginner

I have the Vortex Viper 6.5-20x50 PA with the mil dot reticule and the moa turrets. Im a lot like the op and a "beginner" long range guy. But i have found the scope to be great. Shooting on the lower power is great for steel or switching targets. But the ability to go up to 20x and still have...

Post anything that has helped you as a reloader!

For myself (and i consider my self new even though ive been doing it for two years now) one of the biggest things was just getting out there and doing it. Trying things and see how they effect everything. I can sit and read about ways to be better but actually trying things out has taught me way...

Eye Protection in Long range shooting? Noob Question #2

I pretty much always wear them. But mostly cause they are my prescription glasses and i need them to see lol. When i do wear my contacts instead of glasses i generally still wear eye protection. Especially if shooting a semi-auto since i am left handed so much higher chance of brass to the face...

anybody have experience with a big bore AR?

I plan to get a 458 socom at some point. More for novelty thing than practical use. Standard AR lower and you use standard AR mags. Ive heard the GI mags work the best while pmags work depending on the bullet type and length. So really i could use the same lower for 223/556, 300blk, and 458...
