    450 Bushmaster Upper

Thinking about getting a 450 Bushmaster upper. Are the cheap uppers (such as bear creek) OK or should I spend more for something like a RRA. Also, All the uppers I see have a 1:24 twist. Does anyone make a 1:16? Want a upper w/ a free float handguard & capable of shooting at a minute...

Savage 110 Scout vs Ruger American Ranch in 450 Bushmaster

What about the ruger 450 scout? M77 action & walnut stock. Not free floated but should not be flimsy. But, does it shoot? Also, what about an AR-556. Not adverse to an AR for this if it shoots.

Savage 110 Scout vs Ruger American Ranch in 450 Bushmaster

Why the 350 ? I know that the 450 can do more meat damage but if I want to shoot subsonic then I would need the 450. Or, is hunting with subsonic rounds at 200 yds an exercise in futility?

Vortex 2-10 PST vs 1-10 Razor

Awesome comments. Can't wait to get some trigger time with it. At $678 I will not regret it. For me, next step maybe going to a 3-15. But for now, will be good to evaluate what my brush hunting and DMR limitation are with this scope.

Vortex 2-10 PST vs 1-10 Razor

Pulled the trigger on the 2-10 PST. At $678 could not resist. Will at least get me back to a FFP & 10X and if I still need more magnification for hunting or shooting at 600 yards then at least I will know. Excited about checking out this scope when I get it!

Savage 110 Scout vs Ruger American Ranch in 450 Bushmaster

What about the Ruger Gunsite Scout? It is based on the M77 action. How accurate is this rifle? The walnut stock would feel good but not sure if it is free floated.

Vortex 2-10 PST vs 1-10 Razor

Looking for a scope that will occasionally used for hunting, but live mostly on my Sig 716 DMR. Considering a Vortex PST GenII 2-10 FFP, but should I consider the 1-10 Razor? I have both PSTs & Razors (in different magnifications) and no doubt the Razor is superior, but at twice the cost not...

Savage 110 Scout vs Ruger American Ranch in 450 Bushmaster

Is the ruger action better? The Ruger is less expensive by about $300. What about buying the Ruger & putting on a B&C stock? Or for that matter, semi-autos are legal in OH - what about a Ruger AR-556. Not as convenient to carry, but it's not like I'll be stalking. Get to a blind & wait...

Savage 110 Scout vs Ruger American Ranch in 450 Bushmaster

Need to pick up a rifle for Ohio deer hunting so going w/ 450 Bushmaster as cartridge. Between Savage 110 Scout vs Ruger American Ranch which is better. Obviously not expecting a great stock but really don't like flimsy stocks. Leaning towards Savage but do not have a good reason. Any other...

Inexpensive Shot Timer for PRS training

Thanks for the lead! Seems like it will do everything I need it to. Really like that it does dry & live fire. It was in stock & only $60.

POI Channge @100 Yards With a 'Similar' Load

OK, not disagreeing, but at 100 yards just because flight characteristics?

    IDTS Dry Fire Questions

From what I can tell the IDTS system allows you to focus close and get multiple targets (different sizes & distances) on their screen. I like that the target size (in moa) is known. I assume that the system does not tell you if you hit or miss and you have to rely on your ability to call your...

POI Channge @100 Yards With a 'Similar' Load

On my 6.5CM I changed from shooting: 140 gr. berger @ 2690 fps (2250 ft-lbs) to 147 gr. ELD-M @2784 (2530 ft-lbs) At 100 yards the 147 gr. load hits almost 1 moa higher than the 140 gr. load. Is the increased energy causing more recoil /muzzle flip resulting in the upward shift in POI? The...

Inexpensive Shot Timer for PRS training

Thanks. Did not see the SG for $150. Probably will go with that. When I was looking did not see anything for under $300.

Inexpensive Shot Timer for PRS training

I am looking for an inexpensive shot timer for PRS training. Need something very simple - time for 10 shot string for each shot. Seeing timers at the $300 point but not cheaper. Is there something out there that I am missing?

Is bullet still stable/accurate after it goes subsonic?

I shoot 147 ELD-M and don't generally shoot past 1100. Just going to see what happens when I stretch it out. Never shot at a mile so it out to be fun. At the very least I think that I will be able to walk it out (1100, 1200, etc out to a mile) but have not been at this range before so I will...

Is bullet still stable/accurate after it goes subsonic?

What I mean is that I can make fairly reliable hits at 800 but at 900 or 1000 all over the place and way off the target. I shoot a Hornady 75 BTHP as the gun is magazine fed.

Is bullet still stable/accurate after it goes subsonic?

Thanks for the replies. Asked because only direct experience I had was with my 5.56. And I can get to 800 but anything else it falls off the cliff. Maybe its just bad through the transonic range. Don't know as I never tried shooting it at 1100 or 1200 yards.

Is bullet still stable/accurate after it goes subsonic?

Is a bullet still stable/accurate after it goes subsonic? I know that my precision AR is a tack driver out to 800 yards, but falls off the face of a cliff at 900. Thinking that is because at 800 yards bullet is going transonic. So thinking about various cartridges, what is the max range? I...

Maverick, Magnus RR or HuxWrx Flow 762 for PRS

Want to get a suppressor for PRS shooting. Shooting a traditional PRS gun - heavy bolt action. Not so much a suppressor as much as something that will control muzzle flip so I can better spot my shots. Will not shoot with a brake which is what 90% of what PRS guys do. Already losing my...
