How far is a 18" 223 good for as a trainer

How far can a 5.56/223 w/ an 18" barrel be used as a trainer? Reason I ask is because I just got a Seekins HIT PRO w/ a 18" 223 barrel. I'm guessing that the I'll be launching 75 grain ELD-M bullets at no more than 2750 FPS. Basing this on getting 2850 out of a 22" barrel. My load for that...

Just got a Seekins HIT PRO

Just bought a Seekins HIT PRO. Got a 6.5 Creedmoor along w/ 223 & 308 barrels. This is going to be my first 6.5 and I like shooting my 223 & 308 so figured might as well get the barrels. Not too happy that the 223 is only a 18" barrel, but still should be good as a trainer out to 600 yards...

    New Rifle: Seekins Havak HIT

You getting those velocities w/ the Seekins 18" barrel? I'm getting 2850 FPS w/ 75 grain bullets out of a 22" barrel in my AR15. BTW I'm burning 24.0 grains of varget on that load.

    260 Vs. 6.5 Creedmore

So staying withing mag length may be an issue w/ the 260? I'm talking 147 gr. bullets. Sounds as if going any heavier (which is the current trend?) will cause issues w/ the 260. Correct? Also, seems as either are fairly easy to reload for. Does one have an edge in being easier to get...

    308 - 1 in 10 vs. 1 in 11.25

Thinking about getting a Seekins HIT rifle & noticed that their 308 has a 1 in 11.25 twist. My 700 AAC has a 1 in 10 twist which I really like. I generally shoot 178 gr. bullets & go out to 1000 yards. Will the 1 in 11.25 be fast enough?

    260 Vs. 6.5 Creedmore

Thinking about getting a Seekins HIT rifle in either 260 or 6.5 Creedmore. Would be shooting PRS out to 1000 yards. Which cartridge is easier to develop accurate loads for? Leaning towards the 260 because I have a lot of 308 brass. Yes, I would buy brass for either, but if things ever get crazy...

Seekins HIT vs. Masterpiece Arms BA PMR

How does the accuracy stack up and how would you think that the HIT would do in PRS competition?

Seekins HIT vs. Masterpiece Arms BA PMR

Don't much about the Seekins, but can get a really good deal on one in 260 Rem. How does it stack up to a Masterpiece Arms rifle?

    How to Clean A Suppressor

I have a Griffin Armaments Bushwacker 46 suppressor. The body & baffles are made out of 17-4. They say that it is OK to throw the baffles in a ultrasonic cleaner but do not recommend doing that to the tube body even if a mild cleaner (simple green or dawn) is used. They say that it will...

    POF Revolution Piston AR10

No it is not. He has not bought it yet and asked me for an opinion. My initial responce to him was for that kind of money go w/ something tried & true like Larue, GA Precision, etc.

    POF Revolution Piston AR10

My brother is considering the purchase of a POF Revolution piston AR10. How does this compare to other high end AR10? Cannot get over how light this rifle is. What are pros & cons of piston vs. DI for a gun like this?

    Shooting 308 off a Bench

So if you are not pulling back w/ the shooting hand and not loading the bipod, isn't that 'free recoiling'?

Difference in shooting a Semi-Auto vs. Bolt Gun

What is the proper way to shoot a semi-auto 308? From what I understand, The bipod should be slightly loaded and the grip pulled firmly back to shoulder. Is this correct? On a light recoiling heavy rifle (11 lb. AR 15) is the above true as well?

    Shooting 308 off a Bench

When shooting a 308 off a hard bench (concrete) am I better off shooting off of a bipod or sandbags. With sandbags it seams as if you have to shoot 'free recoil' which I would think on a 308 will result in larger groups. I generally shoot w/ a bipod loading the bipod a little and firmly pull...

    Colt 6920

Why are there so many on gunbroker all of a sudden? I know that there is nothing that special about them but it is the 'original' AR carbine.

    H870 & 300 WinMag

I have 5 lbs. of H870 and have been working up some loads for my 300WM & I must say that I am pleasantly surprised. I loaded up 10 rounds each of a Hornady 212 ELD-X with 82.0 gr., 83.0 gr. & 84.0 gr. Seated bullet to a 2.918" base to ogive length (3.629" COAL). This left me w/ a 0.008"bullet...

    Razor Gen II 4.5-27 Problems

It was a cold, damp day (40F & raining). Just surprised that this could happen after only a couple of shots.

    Razor Gen II 4.5-27 Problems

No I do not and am honestly wondering if this is what is happening. The reason I have doubt is because arter 10 shots the suppressor & barrel were very cool. I could easily tightly grip the suppressor w/ my bare hand and am guessing that it was not even at 100F. I will try shooting w/o the...
