    Missouri MRMBC match announcement

I had a great time at the match. Brian and his family are a shining example of midwestern hospitality. As a matter of fact, Founder won't quit talking about the cobler! Thanks to the ro's. My goal was to make the top ten but hey, lets face it, if I was ment to score that high I would have made...

Been thinking about building a 6mm SAUM

    That's like 3.4 mils/1k. A LAZER!

    Accuracy, me or the rifle?

Sound like inconsistancy in cheek weld or breath. FYI, I am no one special. I'm not an instructor. I just shoot a little. I would tape some firm fome to the comb to align your eye with the center line of the scope and go from there. I would get a bipod and rear bag.

    243 Barrel life question

IMO all things being equal, you should get more life from your barrel when the projectile is going 2900fps vs 3150fps.

Been thinking about building a 6mm SAUM

Don't kid yourself. I'm not that cool and I have no time and little money lately. I was just looking at a SAUM case and a 6mm Creedmoor and thought to myself... 6mm SAUM. The barrel would probably only have 5-800 good accurate shots I think. I can not think of a purpose either. Whats a 6mm...

Thoughts? Anyone ever put that much burning powder through such a tiny hole?

    First time past 1000......

Long action .260. Interesting. Do you have any feeding issues. Looks like there is googobbs of room to get your finger in the port if you have to unfuck something. Have you thought about doing a 6.5-06AI? Nice shooting by the way.

    Beginner rifle

I think I would get the vortex and wait for another Remington without a scope. Maybe you could find one used for $350 and put it in a Bell and Carlson or used HS Precision stock with a decent scope base for close to $600. I bet you could get a special from Cabellas or Dicks for ~$450 new if...

What is the right twist rate for a .308 and why?

Understood. I look at it from the standpoint of "I may shoot this thing off hand." It's kind of a heavy gun for that IMO. I'm no body builder though.

What is the right twist rate for a .308 and why?

You're correct. I have a thing for the M40-A3 but the barrel profile is too heavy and too long in my opinion. 12" Twist should work but 10" is more ideal for heavy stuff in short barrels. Just because a gun is speced and used by this group or that doesn't make it the best. Just sayin...

What is the right twist rate for a .308 and why?

Needed twist rate is directly related to the total length of the bullet, not the length of the bearing surface.

More Barrel Life with 6.5 Creedmore vs .260???

Also, I lost velocity at ~2000rds. Way before accuracy fell. When the barrel was new I could hit 2850 with 43.5gr of H4350. I had to load it to 44.5gr of H4350 just to get 2735 shortly after I noticed I lost velocity. So I guess you have to ask yourself what you consider shot out. Me...

More Barrel Life with 6.5 Creedmore vs .260???

You're correct. I thought I was in the semi-auto section. I would say it depends on the bullet being used. Bullets with long bearing surfaces like AMAX's should be more forgiving than bullets with shorter bearing surfaces like Berger VLD's. I ran my .260 to 3K rounds with 142 SMK's and 140...

More Barrel Life with 6.5 Creedmore vs .260???

I would not worry about barrel life as much as being able to Chase the lands once you start wearing your barrel. With .260 you have one OAL to choose from. That is 2.780. With .260 and one OAL you will loose accuracy because you can not chase the lands due to the fact you're limited by the...

    6.5 creedmoor a duplication of effort if I have a 308

Maybe their brass was wore out prior to the match.? I've super glued primers in before.

    Re-chambering a semi with a tighter chamber

If you know someone with a pile of ar 10 bolts and a headspace gauge set you could keep trying bolts until you find one that closes on a zero but won't close on a +.001.

My Freebore brings all the boys to the yard said the Remington lawyer.

You could work up a new load to the charge weight you are using and OAL you need with new components. If it handles the pressure during development, seat the bullet deeper and fire away.
