    Gunsmithing vinyl cutter......help

Re: vinyl cutter......help Look for powder coat suppliers for high heat tape. I got mine from Summit Racing. You can find it on Ebay as well. You can leave it on during the baking phase, no problem. Once you're done, it peels right off. Don't know about the vinyl cutters. Mike

Gunsmithing Savage Barrel Dimensions 12 BVSS

Re: Savage Barrel Dimensions 12 BVSS They are normally a straight taper from the nut to the muzzle. Those numbers on the Shilen link is what you need to know. Pretty much just the muzzle diameter; that determines the profile of the barrel. If your buddy is the type that would like to have...

Gunsmithing Savage bolt and bottom metal 2012 models changes?

Re: Savage bolt and bottom metal 2012 models changes? I have seen the bolt change before. Its a cocking indicator. You need to decock it to remove the big screw. Either manually decock it while out of the action or place the bolt back in the action, decock it. Then (while the bolt is in...

Rifle Scopes my hunting set up, your thoughts if you don't mind

Re: my hunting set up, your thoughts if you don't mind The Viper is a better scope. $130 better? Maybe. The knobs are much nicer and are probably designed more to be used where the knobs on the diamond back are a "set your zero and put the covers back on" kinda scope. My advice, <span...

Rifle Scopes my hunting set up, your thoughts if you don't mind

Re: my hunting set up, your thoughts if you don't mind Might want to take a look at the Viper series scopes on sale at Camera Land. http://cameralandny1.reachlocal.net/optics/vortex.pl?page=vortexviper2-7x32 Nothing against SWFA, I like them too but the Viper series is a little better...

Rifle Scopes Who has the best warranty?

Re: Who has the best warranty? I've had experiences with Leupold, Vortex, IOR, Nightforce, and SWFA. All took care of my problems. Vortex and SWFA, I felt completely comfortable that I would leave happy. IOR . . . if I hadn't gone through Scott at Liberty Optics, I'm not sure. They did...

Gunsmithing homemade paint oven (more pics added)

Re: homemade paint oven (more pics added) I didn't get a chance to do the other AR I was thinking of photographing throughout the process but went ahead and FDE'd mine. Here is a quick shot from this AM before work. That's a shot from my phone which isn't a bad camera but the lighting...

Re: SnipersHide/SWFA SS HD 5-20x50 GroupBuy I just got noticed about mine shipping. I had completely forgot about the 2nd one! I think I ordered it on June 15th or so? It was right at the end of the group buy. Probably sell it since I've got a NF since then and probably not going to drop...

Gunsmithing PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods

Re: PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods That's what I was planning on doing but just got to thinking about this discussion and thought I could save a little if I only need one bushing vs the set. Oh well, I guess you can't cheat everything.

Gunsmithing PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods

Re: PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods I've got a question for those that use the grizzly rod style to indicator their barrels. On the bushings, do you guys get the whole set or just the smaller bushing of the caliber you're needing? It seems that it would really need to be an...

Gunsmithing PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods

Re: PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods Its all about time and cost. The less time involved for the same costs, the more profit. I'm all over the idea of threading at 1000+RPM. Better yet, I'm all over the idea of pushing START, and then by the time I get my coffee, being done...

Gunsmithing My new lathe and jigs

Re: My new lathe and jigs That's good to hear that PTG makes the mandrels. I tried contacting them through their website form but no reply in two days now. I guess I'll try calling next. I really like the lathe so far. The stand, not so much but that's not a big deal. The main factor...

Gunsmithing PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods

Re: PT & G Indicate/Range Rods or "Grizzly" Rods I'm learning so here's my thoughts on it, 1. No spaces make it a difficult read and to troubleshoot. 2. M08 is coolant on, that should be at the start, M09 should be at the end. All machine controllers are a little different but I thought...
