    Why the M40?

Re: Why the M40? I have to say that about 99 percent of people here would go for the M40A3. That is of course they still had use of their scopes. The M40 didn't have bac up sights. Plus fit and feel seem to work for more people. Chad

    rem 700 serial # ?

Re: rem 700 serial # ? As well as the lock on the safety, older models do not have the rail "track" in it (can't remember the name) that makes it more anti-bind than without. As stated above, they have both 6 and 7 digit non lettered before lettered receivers came out.

Rifle Scopes USO Scope finally on its way

Re: USO Scope finally on its way Trick of the trade: Set aside cash each week in the safe. When the bill comes due, you already have the cash little at a time and wife continues to be happy. Um, of course, I've never done anything like that. Chad

    Gunsmithing M40 finish

Re: M40 finish I believe that the heart stamp on the barrel was a proof mark, not a maker's mark (that has a fine quality ring to it!!). Hart did have a contract at some point.

    Suppressors Sig grip question

Re: Sig grip question Consider yourselves lucky. As a lefty, the decocking lever is to be used with the trigger finger. Need to swap out my mag released to the right side, but the decocker and the slide release are out of the issues for me. I like the rest of the feel of the SIG so I guess...

    Suppressors Your 2 cents on a SIG226-9-TAC (E26R-9-TAC-TB)

Re: Your 2 cents on a SIG226-9-TAC (E26R-9-TAC-TB) Hope to pick up mine tomorrow, couldn't get the TB, but a barrel is easier than a pistol. 15 plus one is about all I am going for. Think the extended mag is a big hang up. Chad

    Gunsmithing Rusted Bolts/ Penetrating Oil

Re: Rusted Bolts/ Penetrating Oil I've always been happy with both PB and Kroil. My cousin got me hooked on the Kroil after he could get it from his company for me for free. Switched jobs, so now not so free, but I still have some laying around before I need to spend the cash. Chad

    M40a1 build guide

Re: M40a1 build guide Try and give any of the top builders a call. I'm sure plenty of them have extras sitting around. I know George has one of mine that he didn't use after the build... Might be a lead. Chad

    Rifle Scopes Unertl Tele. #

Re: Unertl Tele. # From what I've gathered there is no Unertl as we have though of anymore. Sold the company a few times and is just a shell of what it once was. They are not standing on a name, not a product. Chad

    Remington 700 Target Tactical

Re: Remington 700 Target Tactical Longer barrel is your mistake. Lowlight shoots his barrels a whopping 18"!! How long do you think you need them? If that is your only concern, looks like you are getting a 5R. Chad Edit to add: Don't wrap your thumb around the stock, just rest on top.

Worst job you ever had thread

Re: Worst job you ever had thread Jack hammering the acid pits for pickling copper. The acid would evaporate and turn to a white dust. Temp was about 100 in there and when the sweat mixed with the dust, turned back to acid. Would burn nonstop from the time it started until I got in the...

    Benelli M4

Re: Benelli M4 Comfort tech is where it is at for ease of shooting. It really works with the auto. I'd have no issues with shooting 100 plus rounds through mine in a sitting with no issues on the shoulder and I am a wuss. Just a bit of FYI. Chad

    Best Shotgun for $$, 18-20", Parkerized-20or 12?

Re: Best Shotgun for $$, 18-20", Parkerized-20or 12? My Benelli keeps going bang time after time. Get a short barrel for it and it would be deadly. Soft on recoil and you will never "forget" to shuck it or short shuck. Runs on everything from soft loads to full power. 870 owns a piece of...

    Lead Injection on a Mcmillan??

Re: Lead Injection on a Mcmillan?? Sniper fill and a "standard" 7 barrel will give you tons of weight. What caliber are you shooting? I have a 308 and am a wimp and can shoot that without going any heavier. As a plus it is a very heavy gun to carry around. Chad
