    Forster Die Set

Like all bushing dies they have their downsides, but I like them better than a pure neck die. Its cheaper than Redding. I wouldn't say better.

    285gr BTHP in .338 lapua?

That is just the old 285 TSX with a fancy name :) Hardly a match bullet

Sidearms & Scatterguns any Karambit users here?

I have owned a few of them and it appears that in the right hands they are a great tool, but I passed. To me the idea of getting close enough to engage with a knife is bad enough. The idea of then pulling him closer....seems counter intuitive to me.

    285gr BTHP in .338 lapua?

The Barnes 285 is a BT hunting bullet. The 280LRX might have more promise with a .667bc, but still no match for the 285 Hornady.

    T.I.R. 338lm

Below 6 thou TIR and you can expect no return in accuracy, but let me share my experiences. Long term I get less runout from a standard non bushing die with no ball. The bushing can cause a "dread doughnut" after a few firings which causes runout. Forster and Redding can make them to...

Is a detachable magazine worth the increase in weight on a precision/hunting rifle?

The problem is factory action exteriors are not round, rather they are randomly belt sanded by hand until they look good...Its like fitting a potato shaped rock to a V-block...Make sense?

What 300 win mag dies to buy?

230 grn hybrids for 300 win

Sorry man, my post came across like an accusation...not my intention. I guess what I was coming to is there is no free lunch where it comes to velocity and pressure. In other words to get the velocity you are talking about something is generating a great deal of pressure. Be it short leade...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Looking at an axe

Up close a talented guy with a knife is your worst nightmare and a determined idiot can do unbelievable damage in a flash. Ask any cop what he fears more at scratching distance and why....Not trying to be gross, but the victim will need a pillow to keep everything inside. Never underestimate...

230 grn hybrids for 300 win

I understand all of that, but you load would normally start out at 2600fps in a 26" tube. 4 inches X 25fps=100fps Somehow you gained another 200fps? I'm not a buyer nor do I believe the 5r Broughton bought you 200fps. I have lots of friends with that barrel....good barrel, but it isn't that fast.

230 grn hybrids for 300 win

How did you measure your velocity? 3000 fps is crazy fast and you load is ultra mild? I have a 28" tube and I am nowhere near that fast. To the OP: Hodgdon has listings fot that bullet. Max load of 77.0 grains of Retumbo for 2714 fps @ only 55,200 psi Max load of 76 grains of H-1000 for...

What's Your Favorite Brass for your .223 Bolt Rifle

Lapua for the precision stuff and Winchester for gophers. Lapua needs not prep. Winchester needs some love. Both are very accurate in my rifles.

    Redding Competition Seating Die WTF???

If you are talking about seating a bullet then trying to move it 5 thou deeper you are right it wont work. At that point you have to overcome a lot of drag and everything in the process (including the press)takes up the pressure causing a different reading. Consistency is important here...

    Run what you brung

It wasn't bone stock. IIRC it had an Obymyer barrel (7X57) and have no doubt the rifle (though fugly) was a ripper. He shot three targets @ 1000 from 7-11 inches when I was in the pits. His other targets were at least competitive. Conditions were horrendous. Snow swirling made it easy to see...

Interested in LRI group buy-338 edge help

Go Lapua dude. The idea of the Edge was to save money and use a standard Remington action. Lapua brass makes it all worth doing....and if you already own the components.....
