    barnes .338 lm 265grain

Re: barnes .338 lm 265grain I see. The 225TTSX gets my vote then..never used it, but have shot dozes of animals with the regular 225 and the higher BC of the TTSX can only help at distance.

    Shoulder bump question.

Re: Shoulder bump question. Interesting thoughts Mitch. I never considered that neck sizing would alter anything else, but it seems logical that if we make the brass smaller it must go somewhere. Not sure, but I don't think I generate anywhere near 48,000SI when sizing a case..maybe in the...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Pistol for Grizzly Bear Country

Re: Pistol for Grizzly Bear Country After 30 years of obsessively hunting coastal brownies my preferences are: 1) My hunting rifle...338 win or bigger is my preference, but I don't have a guide to bail a poor shot either. 2) A shotgun with slugs 3) A big can of bear spray. I have been bluff...

    barnes .338 lm 265grain

Re: barnes .338 lm 265grain I have tried different neck tensions in a large variety of calibers. As far as peak velocity goes neck tension has no measurable bearing...Not guessing on that one. In some cases neck tension can help tune velocity variation/spread. In something very precise like a...

    Pocket Uniforming or Flash Hole?

Re: Pocket Uniforming or Flash Hole? Ya Buzz, you will find the Lapua almost lasts indefinitely. Section one and you can see how much thicker the web section is...though that portion does vary from caliber to caliber..Seemingly by design. I do know over the years Lapua has changed what they...

    barnes .338 lm 265grain

Re: barnes .338 lm 265grain Yes I have all that stuff, but the bushings control neck tension and that has nothing to do with pressure....Nothing at all.

    Pocket Uniforming or Flash Hole?

Re: Pocket Uniforming or Flash Hole? LOL. Saying the same thing Buzz....Terminology I guess. I uniform and chamfer the flash hole from the inside....no doubt like you describe. I cut the pocket for depth, but do not in any way flare chamfer or dick with the flash hole from the outside. If...

    barnes .338 lm 265grain

Re: barnes .338 lm 265grain 338Lapua? Use Retumbo, Rl-25, or H-1000. I had to lean on it pretty hard to get 2800fps from this bullet...So will not share my loads. The bullet seems very sticky. I got 2750fps out of the 285TSX with US869, but best accuracy was around MOA.

    Shoulder bump question.

Re: Shoulder bump question. You are concerns about case life with a (quality) full length sizer are unfounded. The vast majority of what the die does is bump the shoulder. A properly setup full length die bumps the shoulder just enough for smooth chambering and will not reduce case life.

Re: Concentricity woes... I here you man, most people are shocked when they get the straight goods from Redding...Lot of here say second hand BS gets thrown around..Careful what you swallow. For a hunting rifle (even an accurate one)I would not waste your money on this gear. You will see...

Forster FLS & Ultra Micrometer Seater Dies

Re: Forster FLS & Ultra Micrometer Seater Dies I would not spend the money on the bushing setup until you are sure you need it. If you do need it you are (IMHO) better off with a custom ground sizer and no expander ball.

    Concentricity woes...

Re: Concentricity woes... I have had odd issues with VLD neck chamfer cutters..If it isn't the seater I would look here first. Lot of benchrest shooters use the RCBS cutter. A few guys here claim to have cured a Redding runout issue with the carbide button (perhaps some of them can chime in...

How would you develop a load for two rifles?

Re: How would you develop a load for two rifles? If you were going to run into a problem it will be with the factory headspace of each rifle not relating to the other. You will want to take fired and unsized cases from each rifle and try them chambering them in the other. If the brass goes...

Sidearms & Scatterguns How to shoot fast (and somewhat accurately)?

Re: How to shoot fast (and somewhat accurately)? Yes, attend as many shoots as you can. Shooter training is even better. Work on grip, body position (npa), visualization, sequence, trigger reset, and resetting your bulls eye clock. If you can't control the recoil you can't get back on...
