    You won't know which way to go until you try one one your rifle. If you don't like it just remove it a put a thread protector on the barrel and your good to go.

    The older I get the less I like recoil, but the reason I use a break is to help me stay on target to see my hits or misses. I know proper technique would help with muzzle jump as well.

    I would use a trued Remington 700, but there are a few clones like Surgeon and others that will workl as well or better.

    I like a FFP scope for more consistant elevation and windage holdovers. This can be done on any power setting.

    I love my 17hmr. My 50yd and 100yd zero are close enough not to worry about when shooting P-dogs.

    DPMS=SR25, Armalite=AR10, not all 308 ar parts interchange.

    I agree with Rob, why not the 5X25. With a first focal plane scope you can turn down the power and still use your mil marks. I also sold my leupolds to upgrade to the S&B and it was worth it.

    I have the 3X18X50 model. I've had it about 2.5 years. The glass is great and so far no issues.
