308 factory match ammo is easier to come by. The 243 is a beast when shooting the 115DTAC or a few other bullets. If your not handloading stick with the 308 the barrel will last alot longer.
These are all great cartriges and with a few exceptions almost identical ballistically. I would pick the 243 because brass is easy to find and you will not have any problems feeding it out of a magazine.
I like a 22" with a 1:8 twist barrel. A 20" would work all day as well, but I would get a 1:8 or faster barrel to ensure it can stabilize the heavier higher BC bullets.
I've bought a few barrels from them. I'd call and make sure what you're looking for is in stock first. If I order barrels on Monday I have them by Thursday. And best of all, Neil has them installed in one or two days.
There are a lot of 9mm's out there and I'm sure I've left some off. For a carry gun I would have a glock 17 or a springfield XDM. If it had to be a 1911 it would be one of the STI offerings.
Re: New IOR 3.5-18x50
Received mine Friday as promised. Thanks Scott
The glass is great and it was easy to sight in. Was able to shoot out to 650 and back to zero with no problems. I agree with the previous post about the zero stop and I also wish the secondary zero could be removed...
Re: SSS savage stocks
My SSS savage stock is very well made and fit like a glove. Your looking at a 3 month wait and not 6 weeks. When ever I emailed them they did respond and was provided updates on delivery. Thanks Bob
