Fieldcraft How Many SH Members are/were Snipers

I served in MI unit on civilian clothes status and when I got my DD214 it had three errors on it. I sometime wonder if they did it on purpose. So check that DD214. Mine had the my SS# wrong and that caused problems when applying for benefits (VA Home Loan).

    Hornady AMAX vs Sierra SMK's

I have found the 168 grain Sierra SMK to be a better projectile then the AMAX. I have shot them side by side and got better results with the SMK. I load the SMK with H4895 for the M1A and with RL15 for the AR10.

    Springfield M1A into a precision rifle...possible?

I think you made a good deal. I shot my first M14 38 years ago and then they took it away from me and gave me an M16 and it took me 30 more years to warm up to the AR15 platform. I have had several M1A rifles and now own a Scout which I have for old times sake. You can upgrade an M1A and make it...

Well this made my blood boil

Amen Brother! I was told back in 68 not to wear my uniform downtown as I may get beaten up! When I came home no one welcomed me back save my family. We have come a long way baby. I am glad to see the esteem that our service men are held in has risen so much in the publics eye that some retards...

    M1A/M14/EBR Rifle discussion W/O DRAMA.

Here is my Scout. I took the muzzle break off and added a Smith Ent. Vortex. I add some Sadlak parts (must have). I find the Scout a lot handier than the 22" norm. I have the bipod mounted backwards so it won't snag on low limbs and brush. The scope is a Leupold LER 2-8 power. I have tried...

Anyone ever get nervous pulling the trigger on your first ever re-loads?

I myself always fire with my face away from the rifle when I fire a new build or rifle and when I first try a new load. It may be just overcautious but so far I don't have any scars. I would highly recommend that you get a Chromo. Early on I read somewhere that if you are reloading and not...

Suppressors Larger groups with can installed?

I had problems with my AAC SD6 can and it was caused by the can wobbling on the mount. MOA went from .75 to 3". I had the gunsmith grind the mounts so that the can locks up tight and now I get the same groups suppressed as unsuppressed. The POI will change with the additional weight on the...

    Just finished my first knife

Congrats on your first knife. This is something I want to get into and we have an excellent supply store here in Houston. I am retired and have the time to take my time. Here is my last purchase: CRKT Sakimori - Designed by James Williams

Pof or lwrc repr Which is the better buy

I don't have a POF but I do have an LWRC REPR with a 16" Spiral fluted barrel. It has never had a misfire and shoots Federal Gold Medal Match 168 grain Sierra Match Kings at .71 MOA. I am very satisfied with my purchase. The rifle is light weight and handy. The recoil is very manageable. I also...

    Which SBR to buy?

I am also running an LWRC piston driven AR. Both of my SBRs are chambered in 6.8 SPC. The piston system is useful when shooting the SBR suppressed. The suppressed rifle runs pretty dirty and the piston system negates a lot of the carbon blow back. I also run a 12.5" DI upper so I can see the...

Springfield M1A NM Back In Service

+1 on Sadlak. I have owned several M1a and currently have a nice Scout. First thing I do is to order up Sadlak parts to increase accuracy and shrink those groups. I plan on buying another M1a and I already have the three Sadlak parts waiting to be mounted. I had a problem once with one of the...

I grew up next door to a fellow that was learning to play the bag pipes. I can attest to the fact that when not played well the bag pipes make a terrible noise. I can also attest that when plaid well they are very moving and inspirational. At the Tour Players Championship in 1999 Payne Stewart...

    Rifle won't hold zero... :(

I am very sorry but the rifle is very flawed. It happens but don't worry I can solve this. I will take the rifle off your hands for $400. Keep the scope for your next rifle its a good one.

What are your three favorite powders for the .308 Winchester with 168/175 grain bullets?

H4895 for my M1A Varget for my LWRC REPR RL 15 for my bolt action all loaded with 168 projectiles I have purchased some IMR 4068 to try with 175 grain SMKs.

Lets start it again: 6.5 Grendel or 6.8?

I don't want to piss off the Cobracutter but the Jordanian and Saudi Army have purchased 40K LWRC Six8 rifles in 6.8 SPC. This rifle uses a Pmag magazine. I myself own an LWRC DMR 6.8 SPC and hand load for it. I am planning to replace the barrel with an ARP 18 inch Recon barrel as my experience...

    What Not to Do.

I once loaded a 257 Weatherby Mag light without not enough powder and got a projectile stuck halfway down the barrel. I now inspect the charged cases with my flashlight to make sure they are correctly charged. If any look light or heavy I reweigh them.

Left handed and very left eye dominate.

If you are left eye dominant and left handed definitely shoot left handed. I was told I had to shoot right handed when I was issued the M14 never did. When they took the M14 away and gave me an M16 they said shoot right handed. I shot left handed even though the M16 didn't have a deflector and...
