list of practicable calibers for shooting 1 mile...

The best solutions probably boil down to the .338LM or the 7WSM. A simple list of pro's and con's are that the 7WSM will be cheaper and likely to give longer consistent elevation for matches. It burns less powder - has less fouling - if reloaded is easier to get to very low ES velocities in the...

For a standard factory calibre the 7 WSM is going to be the one.

Win Model 70 300WM Vortex Viper6.5-20x50 Need help- Not enough MOA

A number of factors could explain this. A barrel when being rifled can have the direction of the drill wander ... this means that some barrels when threaded and screwed on have a slight upward path for the bullet or downward or even left or right. If yours is slightly downward then you are going...

    .375 GSC 414 VS CEB 425 at 2050 yards

Interesting video and many thanks for taking the time to do it. I like the idea of using two rifles to test the bullets better. Giving your CT a chance to settle with the Moly coated bullets will improve the test for both. In all my shooting with Moly bullets going to a copper jacketed bullet...

    Best scope for beyond 1500?

Thanks for the heads up on that. Shame they have lost their "custom" options. Premier Reticle also seem to have gone that way with the passing of the founder. They used to do a great "boost" on the MKIV to a fixed 24x and still keep the 140 MOA of internal adjustment. Probably the best ELR...

    Best scope for beyond 1500?

I agree that getting the high magnification with high internal adjustment is a very useful option for ELR shooting. It is a pity that the "genius" with USO passed away with the founder. He could pull a scope together for you in whatever you wanted. For a while they did do the SN9 power level...

    Best scope for beyond 1500?

I went down the route of checking out the USO line .... mine is a custom scope done by the old man before he passed away ... I got it in SFP with a 9-34 power mil dot reticle ... the idea being at 9x it showed true mils for moving targets and estimating range ... at 34x the spaces between the...

    CheyTac USA, LLC

Another post on here with no follow up for questions? The twist rate will be the 1-11.5 Lost River Bore twist if the rifle was sold as advertised on the site.

CheyTac USA, LLC .375/.408 Balanced Flight Projectile™ Sale Ending Soon

A 1-11.5 twist should be the right twist. It is what they use in their rifles. They don't seem to refer to it as the Lost River Bore anymore, that was old terminology from the old company due to LRB making the Controlled Spin bullets. Not sure who makes them now, but they are the most "proven"...

    Best scope for beyond 1500?

Not all scopes do have this issue, but some do. It is not a significant amount at 100 yards when testing and you need to be able to shoot well to see it. Scope manufacturers acknowledge that this can be an issue. NF indicate that if the movement is less than 1 MOA it is within their tolerances...

    Best scope for beyond 1500?

LOL ... there are enough advocates of SFP and FFP in this thread to really confuse the OP. The best option is perhaps to go to a good quality shop with plenty of stock and try the different scopes outside. Take a camera bi-pod and tape a back bag to the top so you can lie the scopes in the ears...

Woodleigh .375 350g VLD solid - anyone using it?

I have a .375 CT 32 inch Lawton 1-11.5 Lost River Bore barrel and was wondering if anyone with this configuration had used the Woodleigh .350g vld solid? Any load data and comments on performance and true BC value would be welcome. Many thanks.

    video camera digital zoom question

Re: video camera digital zoom question I have a Leica spotting scope and bought a digi camera adaptor for the eye piece ... fit a simple digital camera to the adaptor and with a steady bi-pod you can video your shots ...or just look at the screen for a "live feed" on the hits ... works fine...

    F open class front rest

Re: F open class front rest When they first came out Farley's were pretty revolutionary and a number of us who were into F Class at that time went with them. I still have and use mine and also have a mini Farley for travelling abroad with. The Mini is one which fits onto a standard benchrest...

Re: Looking for a long range class? Thank's for the "link" ... naturally allowing for the list being a "training" list this focus's on that ... my preference would be for a list of ELR "ranges" ... i.e. include none training facilities ... from experience I know that a lot of improvement in...

First time in the 1 mile club.

Re: First time in the 1 mile club. Congrats on the 1 mile ( and a bit ) shot ... a 2 MOA target at a mile plus is challenging ... akin to doing an F Class target at 1000 yards and scoring 9's on the target without the benefit of wind flags ( the 9 is 2 moa ). Sounds easy initially but the...
