Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 Quality vs. Price

I can't really speak to reliability and durability of Glocks. I have shot a few but haven't put as many rounds downrange as my 1911 or plastic pistols. I know a lot has been said about the reliability of tactical tupperware, but I have found my 1911 to be just as reliable as my tactical...

    22 lr beyond 100

True that. It's like that shot with North Texas Rifle Precision when you film yourself shooting a golf ball. It takes a while to hit, but you don't show all the "practice" shots. And then after making the shot, you look at the camera and say, "all day long."

    22 lr beyond 100

At 1,000 yards, you aren't pushing the bounds of marksmanship, you are pushing the bounds of luck. That is spray and pray, not showing demonstrable skill with a rifle. Any results achieved will not be repeatable.

BBL Tuners - Do you use them?

I bought a Harrell's style tuner from Killough Shooting Sports. Harrell Style Muzzle Tuner Silver

Sidearms & Scatterguns 1911 Quality vs. Price

Actually, this is wrong. At bare minimum, the internal extractor must be hand fit. S&W gets away with it by having an external extractor which is [gasp] probably a good idea. It is a mistake to believe that the GI guns issued in World War II ran like tops. They didn't, and they weren't highly...

BBL Tuners - Do you use them?

I just bought one for the first time. My rifle is a hammer, but now that I am doing Smallbore NRA F-Class competitions, I am trying to squeeze every last bit out. I will let y'all know how it goes after I tune it.

SMACK the SMILEY Spring 2014 - ENTRY OPEN!

Nice work Gremlin and Richard L. Man! It has been a year since I have taken a rimfire match... not that I was expecting to win with this match's target. Gremlin, you should shoot smallbore f-class. You have been cleaning up with that 10/22, and most of the score is at 50 yards, just like STS.

"Smallbore F-Class'" coming soon per NRA!!!

I am using a Nightforce NXS 3.5-15. A Sightron with more magnification would probably be better, if only to be able to spot your own shots without needing a spotter.

PAPAGALLOS and OGONZALEZ13 need your HELP!! DBM or Floorplate?

All of my hunting rifles have been floorplate and I have never had a problem running out of shots. But maybe you are really good at managing recoil and running the bolt on a lightweight hunting rifle... and maybe you miss a lot or feel compelled to limit out inside of 15 seconds.

Looking at getting a good AR 22

JP is making a 22LR AR now. I am sure it is pricey and I am also sure it is good. They don't make anything bad.

Is Uncle Sam buying up all the 22lr ammo??

The NRA had an article in the American Rifleman pretty much debunking this whole idea that the government and DHS is buying up all the ammo. It is consumers driving this. The thing is, I go to the public ranges and they are not all that crowded. It is casual shooters buying up all of the ammo...

Is Uncle Sam buying up all the 22lr ammo??

If that was the average group, then why didn't you post a picture without a documented flier? It should be a quarter inch rifle at 100 yards. Those are very common on the Internet. Less common are quarter inch rimfires at 100, but they definitely exist here on the Internet. I still haven't seen...

    22 lr beyond 100

I would be very happy with a 35% hit rate on steel at 400 yards. Obviously, wind is a factor, but even with no wind, there is an accuracy cone to 22LR. For me, 5 shot groups average about .5 MOA at 50 yds, .9 MOA at 100 yards, 1.8 MOA at 200 yards and so on. I haven't tried at 300, but we did...

"Smallbore F-Class'" coming soon per NRA!!!

A couple points. First, THIS is exactly what the gun controllers want... division among the ranks. Hunters against tactical guys, tactical guys against smallbore shooters, sling against bipods. More shooting sports equals more shooters, it is just that simple. Second, kids are not attracted...

"Smallbore F-Class'" coming soon per NRA!!!

Not to toot ny own horn, but I won the Texas State F-Class TR Smallbore Championship with a score of 1583-94X (out of 1600-160X). Here is how it's not tooting my own horn... only 2 f-class shooters showed up. And the other guy who showed up is in my local club... I figured in all of Texas...

    Labradar doppler chronograph

Ding Ding Ding! That's it right there. Assembling screens, running wires, confirming that your aimpoint is actually centered shooting through the screens. The whole process is a massive PITA. Doing that during a cease fire at a public range is stressful. Sometimes, I find out my screens are too...

    Labradar doppler chronograph

Super accurate and easy set up. For the money, it is worth it, but for the money, I will wait for someone else to buy serial #0000001. I would like to see someone put it next to the Oehler 35P. If those numbers are right, it should be more accurate than the Oehler. I am so sick of lugging my...

    F T/R Competition 1000 yards w/ 20" barrel?

20 fps is a lot! I always have to end up adjusting my velocities a bit based on results I get on paper. Even a 20 fps differential will make a big difference at 1,000 yards. Being 200 fps off, I would have a difficult time finding paper even at 600 yards!

    F T/R Competition 1000 yards w/ 20" barrel?

The problem is that transonic is a region, not just a single point. There is a great graphic on this page: The Rifleman's Journal: Cartridges: 1000 Yard .308 Load Development. Even above Mach, the flow pattern does not look the same as well above Mach. As to me being at Mach 1.18, yeah, I might...
