    F T/R Competition 1000 yards w/ 20" barrel?

I am guessing that you saw the thread title in the right hand console and replied without realizing that you were posting in the F-class section? We are discussing F-TR, which is .308 at 1,000. I think there is a disconnect here as managing to finish a 20 round match with all shots inside a 10"...

    F T/R Competition 1000 yards w/ 20" barrel?

I thought my chrono velocities were wrong, too. So I checked my drops at 300, 500, and 800 and back calculated velocities approximately the same as what my chrony was reading. Could be Litz's BC's are off for the 185gr Hybrids because even correcting velocity with my drops, it doesn't match up...

SMACK the SMILEY Spring 2014 - ENTRY OPEN!

I have a Smack the Smiley geek story. I shot the 40 pt smiley and hit it low and left. I was going to go for it again and I had two choices, hold dead on and hope that I hit it the same again, or hold just a little to the right to try to get a closer hit and give me a little more margin for...

    F T/R Competition 1000 yards w/ 20" barrel?

I will add my 2 bits. Mike (Tactical) is right that the 155 grainers will get you closer to where you need to be velocity wise. It is just easier to get sufficiently supersonic at 1,000 with some of the 155 grainers that are out there (the Lapua Scenar and Berger 155 BTHP are both great...

SMACK the SMILEY Spring 2014 - ENTRY OPEN!

Happened to me with CF this round. I had a for sure winner. Hit all the smilies and a tiny group. I decided not to press my luck with the 40 point smiley and went for the 30 pointer... and whiffed it. Today, I was shooting the last shot and decided to go for the 40 pointer... AND HIT. It is a...

Sidearms & Scatterguns My New Benchmade

Easier to buy now, too. I need to get me a Benchmade auto to celebrate the new law. I was looking at them and they are a bit pricey, but good. I remember smuggling switchblades in from Mexico when I was a kid. The steel would not hold a very good edge. I would spend hours and hours sharpening...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Wilson Combat, Is is custom or semi custom?

When people define custom vs. semi-custom in 1911's, Wilson is considered semi-custom. Custom vs. semi-custom has nothing to do with quality and everything to do with how the gun is spec'd and offered. Semi-custom manufacturers will let you spec the gun how you want with limitations, but will...

    Barrel Life Expectancy Chart

There is a spreadsheet here: Excel Formula Predicts Useful Barrel Life within AccurateShooter.com As mentioned above, there are a lot of variables. You can give a 30-06 300WM life expectancy by loading it to 300WM levels. That said, it looks about right. I actually think the 30-06 should give...

    2000MR w/ Berger 185gr Juggernauts

This thread inspired me to load up some 185 Hybrids with 47.2 gr of 2000mr (the same load that shot well withe my 185 gr BTLR's years ago). I will let y'all know how it goes. I haven't shot 2000mr since I got my Prometheus. We'll see.

    2000MR w/ Berger 185gr Juggernauts

I will look around for the load that I used in my Tac Ops. I worked up a load that was safe at 80 degrees. I went to shoot on a HOT day in Texas, about 115, and I was piercing primers. And I was using small primer cases. I chucked the cartridges in the deep freeze for a while and could get about...

    Shoulder injury.

Is the pain mainly where your collarbone hits your shoulder blade (scapula meets clavicle)? Is it tender when you touch it? If the answer to this is yes, it could be an AC joint problem. I had this, tried exercises and it just never got better. I finally went to a doc who diagnosed it and an...

    F T/R Competition New F-Class Division

It seems like the F/TR competitors are saying... great! Get some bodies out there, start it up and see what happens! My club has been shooting F-Class Rimfire for the past 5 years. And we have been doing Smack the Smiley for what? 7 or 8 years? It looks like the NRA is finally making a sport of...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Preferred Pistol Sight Picture

I let a friend on mine shoot an M&P of mine suppressed. He is used to the cover hold and kept complaining that the suppressor was covering up the target. I kept telling him that the sights just cleared the suppressor. We argued about it for a while, and he finally understood that he was shooting...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Preferred Pistol Sight Picture

I agree that in Bullseye shooting, it gives a white backdrop and therefore an easier sight picture, but that does not make it any more precise. Some Bullseye shooters, but not all prefer this method.

What scope are you running on you 22?

I have had an NXS 3.5-15X50 on mine for years. A great scope and I have never had issues with it.

    F T/R Competition New F-Class Division

I understand the idea behind making the sport more accessible to people on a budget. I point to 3-position Sporter Class Air Rifle as a sport that has effectively created very specific parameters around rifles that must cost $600 or less. They have an approved list of rifles that must be used...

    Lasik

I had my 3 month appointment today. 20/15 in both eyes and I could read about half of the letters on the 20/10 line with both eyes open. Pretty incredible. I am still getting a bit of glare/ starbursts at night, but I forget how much of that I had before the surgery. I mentioned my concern...

    Unsolicitated range feedback

If the 168gr is a SMK, it will not go to 1,000 consistently. You can get there with different bullets, but you do have to push it in 308. In caliber selection, you end up with a tradeoff between barrel life, ballistics, and knockdown power. You didn't mention the size of the varmints, on smaller...

"Smallbore F-Class'" coming soon per NRA!!!

Anybody else have a chance to shoot one of these matches? 160 shots is quite fatiguing, even with no recoil.
