    7mm-08

As far as the efficiency goes the smaller bullets may have higher efficiency at longer range due to a higher ballistic coefficient. I still like the round though, I have one that i've taken a lot of deer with.

    Barrel Fluting = POI Shift

I've seen coWSMasher's rifle do this, and I also know that the guys at Shilen (whom I trust a lot) do not recommend fluting and will not flute.

    7mm-08

good question! I can't think of a good reason. I'd much prefer it to a .308, but I think so many go that route because military and police use it and it's been around awhile. it has more options for reloading, but the 7mm-08 has a fair amount of options too. It is definitely an underutilized round.

There is no such thing as overkill, only enough kill. Win mag is a great long range whitetail caliber

Hunting & Fishing Do looks matter?

Of course looks matter, but they're not the only thing that matters. I like a good looking rifle, as long as I don't have to sacrifice quality. Do what makes you happy.

Hunting & Fishing What's the best way to get skunk spray off of your dog?

a lot of good ideas. I use baking soda. the only thing i have to add is that i find it helpful to keep the dog wet until you can wash them. usually i'd be out back away from the house when my dog would get sprayed. i'd make him jump in a pond until i could get to the house to wash with baking...

    Barrel Nodes

I asked this same question of an experienced hand loader and he told me in a long roundabout way a less than definitive no. As in maybe it can be done, but I can't do it. I guess I just have to put in my time for load development.

    Son,s first .22 what scope?

I too was budget restricted when choosing a scope for my .22. I chose a centerpoint 4-16 for about 90 bucks. The glass definitely leaves something to be desired, but it's mil dot with target turrets which was important to me. I'll be looking to upgrade in the near future, but it serves my needs...

    Son,s first .22 what scope?

+1 for vortex. I too like a little higher magnification, but that's something you need to decide based on your needs. We can't do that for you. Other scopes I would entertain for the money would be Nikon, but ultimately I think vortex is the right choice.

I think the key is in the safety for avoiding hearing impairment. It would be nice to get some MD's on board stating that it will help reduce hearing loss. On another note anyone around Duluth wanna sling some lead?
