Sidearms & Scatterguns Sig 1911 vs SA TRP

Re: Sig 1911 vs SA TRP I think typical 1911 accuracy at 50 yards is about 4-5 inches. I don't have 50 yard groups, but here are some pictures at 25 off a bench. 5 shot groups. My 1911 at 25 yards

    Rifle Scopes Scope interchangeability

Re: Scope interchangeability What if standard rings were used, but a scope base that is adjustable for windage and elevation. Zero the scope, mount on one rifle. Don't touch the scope, but zero the base. And then mount on the next rifle, zero the base, etc. Everytime you swap rifles, the...

Sidearms & Scatterguns Sig 1911 vs SA TRP

Re: Sig 1911 vs SA TRP Another reason why the sig won't be a 2" at 50 yard gun is because it is stainless. I don't think it is possible to build a 2 inch 1911 out of stainless steel. If it does, it won't do it for long. Stainless galls if it is fitted to the tolerances necessary to build a 2"...

    Where the Varget at

Re: Where the Varget at Sheepdog, Try the gun show, I picked up an 8lb jug from the Jacksonville show for 148 about a year ago. But seeing as how things are, I bet they are all sold out as well. Went to shooters and Varget and RE15 were the first to go. Those two always sell out, and there...

    Spotting Scope Recommendation

Re: Spotting Scope Recommendation The spacemaster is very nice. Especially if you get one cheap, but it does not quite compare to the higher end spotting scopes. Kowa, Zeiss, Swarovski, Nikon, are the best if you pair them with a good eyepiece. The Pentax (pf80 or pf100) is the best for...

Lack of Accessories: Phoenix Tactical DCLW Tripod

Re: Lack of Accessories: Phoenix Tactical DCLW Tripod I ordered one of the grouse levels. He took my money, and said they are getting them in soon, but no word since then. It's been a few months now.

Rifle Scopes Need a 600y recommendation for a 556 SPR

Re: Need a 600y recommendation for a 556 SPR You can get the Nightforce as Mil/Mil. I think the nightforce is worth the price.

    Spotters and what to buy...

Re: Spotters and what to buy... This depends a lot on the model and eyepiece. Zeiss and Leica spotters are not necessarily better. The Leupold Mk4 is surprisingly good for the price and size. If you compare the Mk4 with the leica televid 77 (non apo) with variable eyepiece, the Mk4 will be...

    Trigger for your bolt gun

Re: Trigger for your bolt gun Go with the timney. The Jewell is nicer, but it is more expensive, and may not work as well in the dirt.

Why not the Winchester model 70

Re: Why not the Winchester model 70 Part of what made the Remington 700 so popular back in the day was the round action. It was very easy to work on with just a lathe. Now it doesn't matter as much, but most of the aftermarket has been developed around the R700. I remember reading...

Help my father pick a rifle ($2K to $2.5K)

Re: Help my father pick a rifle ($2K to $2.5K) It seems like Sako just raised their prices. The TRG 22 is about 3000 now. But I think that's your best option. I think the Sako is well worth the extra money over the FN. Remember to Budget about 2k for your optic.

Iphone 4s Sound DB Meter App

    AICS or Alpha Mags

Re: AICS or Alpha Mags Alpha's have been nothing but trouble for me in the badger DBM First of all they had to be modified to fit. Then, they made the steel too thin, so when you load 10 rounds, the magazines bow out, so they don't fit them magazine well. And the feed lips are too high...

    Buy TR or Upgrade 10/22?

Re: Buy TR or Upgrade 10/22? I would go with the Savage. I put a bunch of money into my 10/22, and it's still a 10/22. The trigger still isn't as good as the accu trigger, and it's not as enjoyable to shoot as a 22 bolt gun.
