Range Report POI zero shift with different load

Meaning one variable (upwards recoiling rifle) could negate another variable (bullet leaving the barrel sooner), leaving no evidence in the target, yet knowing the factors still exist..? I don´t want to have precise data without shooting it, indeed the ultimate truth lies with where the bullet...

Range Report POI zero shift with different load

Greg, that´s what I understand from pistol shooting as I´ve mentioned before. That is, letting the rifle to recoil freely as compared to a hard hold could introduce a greater margin between the two POI, correct?

Range Report POI zero shift with different load

waste_knot: did just that, thanks for the suggestion. Now JBM simmulates a bullet fired horizontally; slower bullet drops 6,9cm to 100m, faster bullet drops 6,4cm to 100m. That equals 0.05mils difference between the two. I now believe that if any larger difference is observed between the loads...

Range Report POI zero shift with different load

Now it sounds more complicated than I first thought for myself; honestly, I´ll shoot the two loads Saturday and I´ll see what they do and how they correlate to each other, but now I´m simply curious and want to better understand this part of ballistics; could prove useful in the future, who...

Range Report POI zero shift with different load

That´s my reasoning to ask for experience; ladder test is properly performed at longer distances, and faster loads hit higher simply because of flatter trajectory. I believe this doesn´t apply at 100m, at such short distance the loads (unless extremely slow) should be equally flat shooting...

Range Report POI zero shift with different load

It started nagging me and can´t physically test it at the moment - if nothing but the powder charge is changed, meaning a faster/slower Vo, how does that impact the zero compared to the original load? Would the same bullet flying faster hit higher or lower at 100y?

    Magazine question????????????????

Yes and no. BRX are problem feeders in general, the mag can sometimes be tweaked, but it also depends on the action feeding them. I´m afraid you won´t know for sure unless you go with an exact combination that someone has proven in the past. I know a guy with a 6BRX in a Kelbly action, went...

    Rifle size poll, Part 2

A hair over 49". A PITA to transport, but were I to convert the chassis to a folder, I´m afraid I´ll be compromising the ruggedness of the build. Since it is primarily a competition rifle, I guess I´ll just lug it around as it is.

35mm QD on a bolt gun?

If you´re not running a chassis with a full length rail / forearm, you might unnecessarily compromise your prone position behind the rifle as the mounts are higher than necessary. I´d say if you want QD option, have a look at QD rings. AD company makes them too.

Action Comparison (Stiller, Surgeon, Defiance, etc...)?

Can´t help myself but to think this is like "beamer vs merc" thread. Come on, you´re not buying a Daewoo and the rest is personal preference. All the actions are top notch of what the current market is able to offer.

    Dillon 650 Question

Yes, a bearing under the bolthead/on top of the shell plate. Greatly reduces powder spill in small cases (9mm). It takes a bit of tweaking though, not enough tension = spill, too much tension = locked up shellholder.

    Nosler custom competition ?

Awesome bullet for the price, I believe it has been stated earlier that it actually corresponds to Sierra´s 155 older palma bullet (2155). I´m loading them with Czech Lovex D073.5 powder which is near equivalent of AA2460 (they´ve made it here for Accurate); OAL 71mm, 44grs of powder and 2836fps...

Optic rail canted to the side?

I believe dustin meant to just push them ahainst the slot to keep them square. Indeed, push them forward = same what happens under recoil when the rifle itself travels back.

    1.5 mile club

I can run it just shy of 5 minutes, but am really catching my breath afterwards. I envy those who can even try to shoot that far - my longest option is 1400m, and that is already a 6 hour drive and out of state...

    AX chassis adjustable buttstock

It is an AI made port, however apparently can only be ordered witha rifle/chassis to be installed in the factory as an add-on option. I´ve tried to buy it alone and to install myself over Christmas, and failed miserably. Don´t understand why, maybe they believe you could damage some other parts...

You! You and all the others made me bend my bolt handle! Seriously, that´s a simple mod that realy helps with ease of use. Nice details AI is thinking about.

New to the forum and need help with XM2010

Seriously, what´s the point in re-selling only to buy a lesser Remington? If you don´t necessarily require the extra funds from potential sale, keep it and shoot the hell out of it.
