    Considering a 6.8 instead of a 5.56 AR

Re: Considering a 6.8 instead of a 5.56 AR If the option is there then go for it, at least with the availability where you're at, you can start shooting in the short run instead of having to scramble for parts and components. There's a lot of options for the 6.8, if you get mags such as CPD...

    JD Machine?

Re: JD Machine? They're good people and get A LOT of business, but they don't have a lot of people so to me its understandable that they won't be so good in the customer service department. I go to their shop every now and then and they have some amazing stuff, their products are gtg.

    7mm barrel and gunsmith

Re: 7mm barrel and gunsmith Kevin Rayhill at Stockade Gun Stocks recently make a 284 barrel for me, took a week to get to my door and it was totally worth it. It was a 25.25" 1 in 8 twist heavy sporter contour Benchmark barrel, and it shoots amazingly well. I was lucky enough to catch him...

FCP-K OWNERS step inside (Savage 10)

Re: FCP-K OWNERS step inside (Savage 10) Anything in the 175gr. range I think is perfect for the 308, I like the 178gr. BTHP match from Hornady a bit more than the A-max since it offers a higher BC.

Caliber Choices - Comparison and Applications

Re: Caliber Choices - Comparison and Applications I have a Weatherby Vanguard in 7-08 with a 22" barrel, I use bullets in the 140gr. class, since they give the best performance I think out of the 7-08. 45gr. of Rl-17 gives me 2800fps out of a 22" barrel with 140gr. TTSX, which is perfect for me.

Re: 20" 300WSM ???? For your intended purposes I think you would be just fine with a 20" 300WSM, I've been meaning to get a short barrel and try it myself, but have been busy with other projects.

    AR in 6.5 Grendel

Re: AR in 6.5 Grendel The 6.5 Grendel is great, I would have one if someone would just make a left handed bolt to go in my left handed AR! The 6.8 is plenty and with certain loads, can reach out pretty far, but you really can't beat a 6.5 in any form factor.

Best Cartridge for the Berger 7mm 195 Hybrid?

Re: Best Cartridge for the Berger 7mm 195 Hybrid? I think that anything 284win or above should be enough for this cartridge, sure it offers a bit more drop but I think the slight advantage in wind drift is worth it, one thing overlooked is that these 195gr. Bergers with the .794BC will be an...
