NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

I'll for sure try it in the GM bbl that Mike Manzella is doing for my Rim-X when it comes back. I should mention that the 1712 didn't shoot a known good lot of SK Std+ worth a hoot at 50yds, but it tightened right up when I fed it a new good lot of SK Rifle Match after trying three good lots of...

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

A friend of mine got several bricks of R50 a year or more ago; I don't know whether he was wanting to use it in some 22RF PRS-style matches, or in one of his Anschutz 22RF metallic silhouette rifles. Not sure where he found it, but he offered me a brick of it to try in the V22 repeaters I have...

    CZ 457

The only steel CZ mag I've ever tried was the 5-rd one that came with the Varmint MTR. Worked ok I guess, but I didn't use it often enough to really put any large number of rounds through it - I've only owned two of the poly CZ 10rd mags, and have used the dickens out of them, with no issues. I...

    Replacement M700 bolts

I've been using PTG one-piece custom bolts in both short & long M700 actions for more than a decade. I've used bolts with straight & swept bolt handles, and have ordered most of them with the small (.061") firing pin hole and with the appropriate striker assembly. Went with mini-16 extractor on...

NEW From Zermatt Arms - RimX Actions

I'd be interested in hearing how you get along with the Nevius chamber in a Rim-X - I had issues with an EPS chamber being too tight at the back of the chamber, and causing feeding issues in my Rim-X. The Nevius is even tighter than the EPS... I wound up cutting enough of the shank off to remove...

    Favorite Rimfire Rifle?

I got started building precision 22RF repeaters with my first ever RF project - a Stiller 2500XR with a Krieger sendero blank that I finished at 22". Just a few months after I finished that rifle, Mike Bush made his drawings for the repeater conversion of Rem 40X & XB actions to use his...

    3 digit Remington 40x

As nice as the stock is on your early 40X, it's a shame the metal has had such a poor job of re-finishing. I sent a beat-to-snot CMP 40X with s/n 85XX off to Jonathan Elrod for the repeater conversion that Mike Bush drew up to use his early prototype V22 magazines, then fitted, chambered, and...

    Rem 700 Side Bolt Release

Dittos - send it to LRI. A little over a year ago, I was looking for the parts I needed to do a build on a bare M700 receiver that I'd bought and had sat on through the time when Remington went tits-up. By the time I decided what I wanted to do with this receiver, there were no small parts -...

New look at Bushnell Elite LRHS2

I've built & sold four 6XC field/coyote calling rifles for myself, and wound up selling the first three of them because customers saw & liked their looks in Manners T3 stocks. Only problem was, they always wanted to buy those rifles WITH the Bushnell LRHS 4.5-18x44 scopes I had put on them. Not...

    Which 22LR

As someone who builds my own rifles, I've become pretty spoiled when it comes to accuracy, with both CF & RF rifles. I built myself a very nice rifle on a Stiller 2500XR action/Krieger sendero contour bbl that I chambered with an EPS reamer, and put into a Manners EliteT4A stock. Not long after...

DeLane Dev Grp V-22S Single Shot Support

Hmm - makes me wonder about those reports of bolts rusting on the Vudoo single shots. I've never seen any sort of rust or spots on either of mine, but then the humidity out here is usually pretty low - though it's been raining here tonight for over an hour now... Will pull them both out tomorrow...

    DeLane Development Group Rimfire Ventures

Or you could check with Jonathan Elrod at Modocam to see if he's got a Shilen. Nothing against using VGW, but Jonathan's work is excellent, and he's a great guy.

    Howa 1500 vs Rem 700

Since my last reply on this thread, I've sent the last bare M700 RR action I had off to LRI. I'd sat on this action too long after Remington went tits-up, and none of the usual places where I'd buy bolt stops & springs, trigger pins - all the little parts it takes to finish out a bare action -...

Is .22LR Ammo Inherently Dirty, Or is it The Ammo I am Shooting?

I have no idea what metal the baffles in your Q Erector are made of? Isn't CLR really hard on aluminum baffles?

Is .22LR Ammo Inherently Dirty, Or is it The Ammo I am Shooting?

The vast majority of suppressors designed for use with RF ammo aren't sealed, and it's usually easy to remove the baffles from the tube, and snap them apart so you have access to front & rear faces of the individual baffles.

Is .22LR Ammo Inherently Dirty, Or is it The Ammo I am Shooting?

The fascination of shooting std vel match ammo through a suppressed rifle was quite an attraction at first, but as others have mentioned, it comes at a price. I felt dealing with the RF fouling in my cans was something I could live with - especially if I didn't get lazy and let it build up so...

Whats the best of the cheaper ammunition? Eley Target example

Over the past 10 years, I've had some SK Std+ that was pretty mediocre when it came to shooting 50yd groups, but I've also had some lots of it that shot really well for the most part - maybe a few flyers, but plenty good enough to practice with, and in some cases, to shoot groups with. I'll...

Rifle Scopes Athlon Heras SPR 2-12 First Range Trip

I've been looking at the Heras line of scopes on Athlon's website since I first received notification of their availability, but have yet to order one. These positive reviews make it a whole lot more likely that I'll be ordering in a few of them soon. I'm looking at the 4-20x50 for use on a...

    Banish 30 Suppressor

As far as being a TBAC fanboy goes...after being really disappointed with a AAC SCAR-h back in 2009, the experience of shooting with my 1st TBAC (30BA) was a huge improvement in not having POI shift all over the place every time I removed & replaced it on any of the several barrels I used it on...
