    300 PRC update

Pva recommend an 8 twist for the 212 but they also have a 198 very similar to the flatline. I believe the only difference is the alloy used. I’m doing load work with the 198’s in a 1:8 (300wm)now and very happy so far but have not had a chance to take them past 835 yards yet I’m single feeding

Really comes down to the individuals wants and expectation. Some are happy with moa. Some toss a barrel when it opens to 1/2 Moa.

Barrels are a consumable just like tires. If your concerned about either don’t choose a hot rod

For me the reason I switched to monos was wind. Drop doesn’t matter to me. Wind is always the biggest hurdle for elr and first round impacts With out wind we could be using Elmer Keith style bullets and it wouldn’t matter. For me my love of elr started with a rock hunting game that we do for...

I do chainsaw porting. Lathe would help me shrink the combustion chamber. Shorten the deck and make pop up pistons

By the way @Steel head you were right. I do have the .180 free bore not .250 I was measuring to the bore riding ring and not the bearing surface where it actually engraves. Had to jam one good to figure that out 😂

Norma brass is on the soft side Typically with softer brass I prefer to fire a medium load first before doing pressure testing to help work harden the head. I’d bet you see your growth slow with 3rd firing and 4th. Could always use the ball punch method and tighten up those looser ones

Haven’t shot one yet. Got them yesterday. Happy with the 198’s so far I’m thinking 1:6 or 1:6.5 for the 241’s

It costs way more to burn out a barrel than it does to replace one. My next barrel will either be 1:7 rum probably 30”-32” or another 300wm because I’m already setup for it. I like to order them before I need them. Currently have 3 barrels for my 243. I’m a big fan of barrel nut barrels...
