    What is a gunsmith

I have a gun shop local to me with a full time in house gunsmith. I went in to pick up a gun and went over to talk to him. I asked if he had a bore scope. He told me he’s been a gunsmith for going on 15 years and has never had a need for one. Skill levels definitely vary in any profession...

    Question about CCI Ammo

I use the subsonic hollow point on close range prairie dogs. Works pretty well out of my cz452. It’s nice to be able to shoot a quieter round.

    ar10 build... what caliber?

The Roberts might be a little long for the magazine. The X47 Lapua would be cool as hell but that brass is very expensive to beat up in a gas gun. The 25 Creedmoor would be a good choice on paper although it may not have the rare wow factor. I just have never seen a ar in 257 Roberts.

What to put in a trailer toolbox?

Zip ties and a good side cutter. Forget the tow strap with steel hooks and buy the ones with loops. Those hooks come flying 300mph at your window-vehicle when the strap breaks.

Drop trousers, bend over, self lube, back up rapidly.

Winter gas has ethanol in it as well. Ethanol is not the problem. Been using E85 year around in Northern Illinois since 2005 with no problems. Have you guys ever started a gasoline internal combustion engine with a carburetor in cold weather? It’s called a choke! Lol. Restrict the air to...

    Daughters project update

Keep the 7mm for deer and build her a 1-7 twist 223 wylde. Pleasant and fun to shoot. If you must choose between 6mm and 22 Creed I would go 6mm.

Leica amplus 6 or trijicon thoughts

I need a scope for a 18” 223 wylde rifle I built. I want the low magnification for the wide field of view but I also need lightweight. The Leica Amplus 6 2.5-15x50i Ballistic BDC is on my list as well as a Trijicon tenmile or credo all on close out pricing at eurooptic. Price and weight is...

What reloading equipment kits would you recommend for someone getting started at under $1000?

If your groups are that sensitive to a powder charge you should be reconsidering your velocity node. A temperature, elevation, or even humidity could throw you out of a narrow node. I am not a expert on this like some here but look up ocw method.

Need more power than 350 Legend

I am not a expert deer hunter by any means but here in Illinois I have taken my last 3 Bucks with a 300 aac and a 120 tipped Barnes bullet. 8.5” barrel on the pistol and the last 3 bucks I shot at have all been recovered within 30 yards of where they were shot. I would think the 350 legend...

LaRue Complete AR-15 Match Grade Upper or WOA, 3-Gun Upper or their SPR Upper?

Wilson combat 18” super sniper barrel. Compass lake engineering was running a special on a 16” Douglas. WOA is always a good choice. Larue was running a accuracy package deal that included a barrel trigger and case for a good price.

If you could only own 2 caliber Rifles?

6.5 Creedmoor is a great all around cartridge but a little light for hunting bear, moose, bull elk etc. that’s why I recommend the 280 ai still a softer shooting cartridge but also kills well. A 223 is just a must have imo. Thinking 18” wylde ar in a rainier ultra match or Wilson combat...
