    Reminton 40-xs tactical

Re: Reminton 40-xs tactical Damn! Build your own for that or quite a bit less with exactly the components you want and probably better accuracy. There are several gunsmiths on here that have great reputations, or you can ask for some that are close to your area.

    7mm-08, 120's vs 150's to 1000?

Re: 7mm-08, 120's vs 150's to 1000? Using my calculator, this is what I show: 120 BT @ 1000yds needs 31 MOA elevation, 468 ft/lbs energy and 8.8 MOA of windage. 150 SMK @ 1000 yds needs 35.5 MOA, 527 ft/lbs and 9.3 MOA for wind. If you're going long range with this cartridge, forget both...

    243 AI help

Re: 243 AI help I can't say at 44.0gr, but at 44.5gr this is what I was getting: Lapua brass - 3747 fps Win Brass - 3671 fps My elevation here is about 900 and the temp during my testing was 75 F (pretty similar to yours). If you're getting 3825 with 44gr, congrats. But is does seem a tad...

7mm mag 175gr SMK- how much jump

Re: 7mm mag 175gr SMK- how much jump When mine was new, I was pushing them just a tad over 3000fps. Now with the throat a bit longer, they are averaging around 2950.

7mm mag 175gr SMK- how much jump

Re: 7mm mag 175gr SMK- how much jump I've noticed with mine that this bullet is very forgiving and likes a jump. I would start at 5 thou off and work back to see what your rifle likes. When my rifle was new it really liked them 12 thou off. However, since then my throat has eroded a good...

    7 mm. Rem.

Re: 7 mm. Rem. Foul Mike, with regards to brass I've been quite amazed with my 7RM. I'm probably at least on 8 times for my brass. I've had to throw just a few away because of splitting around the neck, but the others are still going strong. Primer pockets are tight and no indication of...

Any 7/08 shooters on the hide??

Re: Any 7/08 shooters on the hide?? I've had my best success with them sitting 0.005"-0.010" off the lands. They are a little finicky with regards to seating depth, so you have to play with them a bit more than some others (e.g. SMKs).

Any 7/08 shooters on the hide??

Re: Any 7/08 shooters on the hide?? I've found H4350 to be the best with the 162 Amax in my rifle. I was able to push them very accurately to about 2840 fps before pressure signs showed up. However, I settled on a load that was just as accurate with a lower velocity to handle long strings...

Re: Spring ASC Results I was getting 30+ mph readings on my Kestrel several times throughout the day on day 1 as we were navigating our way down the front side of the mountain.

    READE RANGE"SPRING" SNIPER CHALLENGE RESULTS

Re: READE RANGE"SPRING" SNIPER CHALLENGE RESULTS What happened Clark? Was the recoil on that 338 Extreme causing you to flinch ? Looks like another good match and wish I could've made it. Oh well, hopefully in the fall. However, I'll see some of you next week at ASC.

    7/08 question?

Re: 7/08 question? 22 should be fine. I settled on 24 for mine and would do the same again. Just seems to balance quite nicely.

Gunsmithing Bell and Carlson VS HS Precision

Re: Bell and Carlson VS HS Precision I do, but like 300 said, he was the PM representing a well known and respected agency. There is a reason they put his job title on the letter and not just his name. Getting a contract and reference like that is a significant accomplishment. Kinda like...

Gunsmithing Bell and Carlson VS HS Precision

Re: Bell and Carlson VS HS Precision There is nothing wrong with that letter. Why shouldn't they tout their successes? It's a great reference for the company and if it true and helps them sell product, good for them.

    7MM Rem Mag

Re: 7MM Rem Mag 7mmRM gave some good advice. If you aren't too keen on spending the coin for Bergers, step up in weight slightly to the 175 SMKs with a BC of 0.608. Or go down a tad to the 162 Amax with a BC of 0.625. I personally shoot the 175 SMK using a stout load of RL-25.

    40 - 55 gr 223 Rem.....

Re: 40 - 55 gr 223 Rem..... I shoot the 40gr Vmax out of my Rem VLS using IMR4198. I must have gotten lucky either with the load, rifle or both because this thing consistently shoots tiny groups like a custom rig with zero work done to the rifle.

Gunsmithing A few bedding tips (Pic Hvy) Sav,Rem,Howa NU PICS

Re: A few more bedding tips (Pic Heavy) I've done bedding jobs on several rifles and they all came out quite well. The hardest part that I find to get right is the trimming. What do you use to get the nice clean edges on the bedding just like when GAP or LSR do it? I usually end up...

Rifle Scopes Is it necessary/beneficial to bed scope bases?

Re: Is it necessary/beneficial to bed scope bases? Ok, I need some edumacation on a point above. Why does switching to 8x40 screws solve the issue? If the base and top of the action are not flat to one another, the base will still flex under torquing of the screws regardless what size they...
