Official Accuracy International AT First Look

Personally after spending quite a bit of time behind my AT with both the 20" 308 barrel and the 24" 260 Barrel, both with the can on. The 308 seems to feel just right at 20" though it's definitely not a light right no matter how you look at it. If you're trying to get rid of the flats, you're...

Having trouble deciding on a barrel.

WOA, Lothar Walther with the matched bolt, or the Rainier Ultra Match. I just don't see the need for anything longer than 18" personally, I've had no issue with targets out to 800 with the current Rainier barrel that I've been trying out. Only have about 600-800 rounds through it right now last...

Tips and secrets for increasing the accuracy in an ar15

VJJ, I think your aim is a little low and right. Might want to adjust your aim, it might make you more accurate...

Subsonic .308 Load. Trail Boss or Titegroup?

I am another big fan of Trail Boss. I use 10.5gr under a 200 gr SMK and they have been very stable and accurate with an average velocity right around 1035 fps. They've worked very well out of my rifles and those of others I've made them for.

.308 Hard Bolt Lift with hand loads--McMillan TAC 308

How is that going to solve anything? It's not going to do a thing if the dies have not been set up properly. OP already has indicated he does not yet have headspacing gauges so he has gone by feel only. Doing the same to Lapua or any other manufacturer's brass will not work.

RELOADING PROBLEM what can I do???

To partial size properly with a FL die vs adjusting them down to the shell plate according to manufacturer instructions you must have them set up to properly size cases via measurements. To do this you will need to adjust the dies so that you have 0.001-0.002 of shoulder bump for a bolt gun. If...

.308 Hard Bolt Lift with hand loads--McMillan TAC 308

I know you say you full length size it, but the question is where you full length sizing it just so that it would chamber smoothly or are you bottoming out the die on the shell plate? Your initial post indicates that you are not following manufacturer instructions, but rather trying to...

.308 Hard Bolt Lift with hand loads--McMillan TAC 308

A small base die should not be necessary, it will work your brass more than a regular die so you will see a decrease in your brass life. Generally speaking, small base dies are more often beneficial in a gas gun with a tight chamber as they will help aid in making extracting a bit easier as they...

Suppressors I was panicking! I used to have my thunderbeast stuck...

No SixFive, I'm definitely not talking about you. I think it sucks you had to learn the lesson of thread spec issues the hard way. I was referring to SilentG21 as if you look through many of the threads he posts in (Most of which seem to be in the Suppressor Section) you quickly notice that...

Suppressors I was panicking! I used to have my thunderbeast stuck...

I'm guessing that originally it was going to be another "that's why you buy a Surefire, you get what you pay for" or "I'm a Surefire fanboy because they are the best." Maybe it's just me, but that's what almost all of his posts have to say. It's quite comical actually. Oh well, I just hope...

.308 Hard Bolt Lift with hand loads--McMillan TAC 308

HE does bring up a good point as I did make a bad assumption on one thing, which is your brass. The once fired brass you are currently using to make hand loads have all been fired in this rifle, correct? If so, my money is still on this being a headspacing issue. If not you may need to FL size...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Auto knives

My favorite EDC auto is the Benchmade AFO II. Sturdy, reliable, and it has a lock. I've carried it on patrol for the last 3 years and it's holding up very well. Very good point mentioning the lock, I like them on auto's and with a well designed lock system they are very quick to disable when...

Rifle Scopes Same old question NF vs USO

I'd take a look at the new Vortex, or maybe some of the Steiner, March, or Kahles optics before I considered either one to be honest. Hell, I don't see myself buying another S&B as it seems like everyone else is coming out with good glass and well built packages with better warranties these...

Tips and secrets for increasing the accuracy in an ar15

Ah, Satern barrel you should be perfectly fine then. You can also put an adjustable gas block on there and turn down the gas a little to smooth it out if you have not already done so. Really I would look at the ammo aspect of things once you have a good barrel, and have a decent trigger (which...

Tips and secrets for increasing the accuracy in an ar15

If it is shooting sub MOA with good hand loads or FGMM/Fiochi match 77 gr bullets then really there may not be much more you can do. What exactly are you expecting? Most everything is going to come down to that barrel and your ammo. The bolt plays very little into the grand scheme of things as...

    Which lower parts kit?

If you want an inexpensive but good quality kit without a trigger I would suggest the JP kit as they can be had for under 40 bucks. I'd avoid PSA and some of the other cheaper options as they don't tend to be as consistent.

.308 Hard Bolt Lift with hand loads--McMillan TAC 308

Only if necessary. More times than not it is an issue of the rounds not having the correct amount of headspacing. Very rarely are small base dies necessary nor should they should be your first attempt at a solution as they end up working the brass a little more than is often required. If you...
