    Gunsmithing Torque Tools

It looks like my Wheeler Fat Wrench has gone kaput. Are Fixit Sticks still the preferred torque sensing tools or is there New Hotness ?

I want a new hunting bolt gun

The bottom of the fore end had about .060" crown where the parting line of the injection mold came together so a couple of minutes for setting up in the vertical milling machine and another couple of minutes with a 3/4" end mill made a sufficient flat spot for the Area 419 Pic Rail / Flush Cup...

    Tikka T3 Thread

It's cocking the striker / firing pin in the bolt. You can disassemble the bolt body and lightly polish the cocking ramp and the part of the cocking piece that rides on that ramp and then use some light gun grease to lubricate it to lighten the way it feels.

    Deciding between 25GT and 25x47

While I completely understand the desire for "Something Different" and the quest not to be like everyone else, ( I shoot a long throat .284 Winchester in my Tikka Hunting Rifle - I get "Different ) The bullet diameter between .25 Caliber and 6.5mm is only 0.007" Is it worth having to start from...

Rechamber to 7 SAW or "Go Big or Go Home" with .284 Winchester once you go thru the ammo. It seems that our Southern Hemisphere Brethren have been rechambering new 7-08's for a while now and they seem happy with the outcome.

I want a new hunting bolt gun

I picked up the rifle from the local FFL on Wednesday and took it apart to clean the stinky rust preventative coating off an inspect the rifle, clean the bore, etc. The scope rail arrived today - Thank You @Darryle and the Atlas Area 419 Pic Rail w/ flush cup arrived too. Now I just need...

Ummmmm.... The barrels installed in Finland generally don't like to come off the action without "Persuasion". I'll leave it at that.

I want a new hunting bolt gun

This is the rifle that I bought my dad back in the early 1990's - A Bolt Hunter in .308. I have a connection with this rifle, but it's not the right tool for this particular job. I'll still take it with me from time to time, but suppressed is better these days.

I want a new hunting bolt gun

I have a Bravo, a Manners and an MDT ACC for my Tikkas, as well as the CTR Take off and laminated Boyd's that's on Karen's 6mm CM. I'm contemplating a leap into the Rem 700 SA Footprint, but it's tough to argue with a 20" CTR. My first Tikka was a 24' 6.5 CM CTR, so that would be like going...

I want a new hunting bolt gun

I'm looking for a new bolt gun in .308 for deer hunting out of blinds or deer stands in central Alabama with a max shot distance of about 300 yards. Looking for an 18" -20" Barrel - Prefer a 1-10" rifling twist rate - not a drop dead "Must Have" Muzzle Threads 5/8" -24 - I have suppressors to...

    Daughters first deer rifle

How about some love for the 7-08 for the young lady. Less recoil than a .308, more energy and frontal area than a 6.5 CM and 6.5 Grendel. Important things are to practice and use good projectiles that fly good in the rifle. I have 3 6.5 Grendels, 3 X 6.5CM's and a 6CM and the 6 CM is the only...

Best method for surface rust removal on car panel.

Do you have a 4 1/2" angle grinder ? Drill motor ? You'll want a scotchbrite style rust removing disk and metal prep / Ospho / Phospho to etch the clean metal and leave a phosphate coating prior to priming / painting. This is what we use on our steel stuff working in sea water on the Gulf of...
