    Rifle Scopes MOA Wind Math

@Subwrz300, I like it. I took the "hunt and peck" approach - entering different direct crosswind numbers in the ballistics software until I got a "wind-cheater" value that lined up with 1/2 MOA wind drift every 100 yards under a 1/4 MOA resolution. I wonder if your approach to add the G7+ G1...

    Rifle Scopes MOA Wind Math

Did some more playing. I think the best way to explain this is exactly the same way you do for guys with mils scopes. Play with the ballistic software to find a direct crosswind value that will displace the bullet 0.5 MOA every 100 yards - this is your "wind-cheater" value for your MOA scoped...

    Rifle Scopes MOA Wind Math

You will get some anomalies (within 1/4 MOA) due to rounding errors and the fact that you can't dial a MOA scope .9 MOA . Also the difference between a 5mph gun and 6 mph is significant ... start adding the extra .25 MOA beyond 700 yards. Perhaps a better approach to try (not sure this is a...

    Rifle Scopes MOA Wind Math

Simple. Step 0: Just have students figure what "wind cheater" value their gun/cartridge is (Lowlight's example - "5 MPH gun") Step 1: Determine your base wind-hold number is at distance (5 mph) : use 1/3 MOA for each 100 yards, and round to nearest .25 MOA and ADD an extra .25 MOA starting...

    Badger M2013 and AI

I built a .308 on a M2008 ... my attempt at getting an AI in a mcmillan A-5 stock. It hammers, it feeds, it just works. Some say that they are bulky/heavy. This is true compared to a m700 but they are not bulkier/heavier than an AI action. I cannot tell the difference in bolt lift between...

How long do I have to wait for a quality manufacturer to make me a lightweight factory takedown rifle?

True ... but now try to switch an AR from .223 to 6,5 creed to.300 WM not to mention .338LM ... I guess you just buy four of them ...

How long do I have to wait for a quality manufacturer to make me a lightweight factory takedown rifle?

I agree with @DetroitRearView that the Blaser is really hard to beat as a take down rifle. I haven't found anything that compares. They are 1/4 MOA or better out of the box, they just shoot ... even run-of-the-mill factory ammo. If they would produce a tactical stock (LRS or Blaser Tactical)...

Subsonic 308 bullet for coyote hunting

Saw one in our neighborhood 3 days ago at dusk freaking out as the school bus stopped to drop off a bunch of kids within 30 feet of him ... the look on that yote's face was priceless ... "How in the $%^#% did I get here?" City ordinance prohibits the discharge of firearms inside city limits ...

Only $11,302.00 for a 16" 6mm Creedmore with an extra stock and bottom metal

It takes years (more than one) of learning to reload and several gun builds and a lot of tinkering experience to get to a point where you can build a rifle you like that works flawlessly and shoots like the Gunwerks rifles shoot out of the box. Some people like to hunt with 1/4-1/2 MOA...

Subsonic 308 bullet for coyote hunting

I did a ton of testing including drilling out the flash holes, using Magnum rifle primers, fast pistol powders as well as trailboss/tinstar ... etc. The best results were with Trailboss/VV Tinstar and pistol primers. For my AI AT Covert and 20" barrels - Both 1:10 twist I found that I could...

Subsonic 308 bullet for coyote hunting

It all depends on your barrel twist for a .308. You need a 1:10 twist minimum for 200gr match bullets (longer 208, 220, 230 gr match bullets do not stabilize reliably unless you have a 1:9 or 1:8) Shorter 220gr Round nose sub-sonic loads work really well (sub MOA accuracy) in a .308...

Market sets the price - they are selling so not overpriced. CavScout85 is most likely saying there are better ways for him to spend $11,300. For myself, I agree but that is a different matter all together.
