DLC - best dry bolt lube for dusty environments?

Going to experiment with some dry Teflon lube on the bolt body and raceways with a thin layer of tw25b on the back side of the lugs: https://www.amazon.com/DuPont-Chain-Saver-Self-Cleaning-Lubricant-11-Ounce/dp/B001B0VDC2/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1544198017&sr=8-5&keywords=dupont+dry+teflon+lubricant

    Foster Co Ax?

I spent 25+ years using a Rockchucker for precision reloading and you can produce really good ammo on it. I moved on to an arbor press with wilson dies (VERY concentric - VERY accurate but tough to FL resize so you use the Rockchucker for that). I acquired a Corbin Press (bullet swaging &...

Next-level gaming the system & switch barrel guns ...

Some NRA across the course shooters do just that. Lighter bullets for the 200,300 rapid fire stages and heavies for the 600

Good one. Maybe PRS should try to be more like golf than Nascar. With the caddy and the cart it would be like the last time that I shot sporting clays ...

Next-level gaming the system & switch barrel guns ...

Lots of good points and discussion here. - Yes, agree for most of us the added complexity would serve to hinder not help; however that is not true for all -someone(s) will figure it out. My AI PSR has a POI shift of exactly 5/8" @ 100 yards between the .260 barrel and the .338LM barrel...

Next-level gaming the system & switch barrel guns ...

Switching your dope not so much, switching you zero can be a problem, ask me how I know ... Consider the following scenario: I go to shoot a PRS match and in the nearish positional stages I stick in a 6mm BR barrel, For the Long range I drop in a 6.5x55 barrel or .300 WM barrel. it takes a...

Next-level gaming the system & switch barrel guns ...

So is that based on a serial #? What about the guy with the same action (serial #) but different bolt/barrels? Hell that guy could even swap out a chassis along the way and keep the same gun (serial #) ... I see lots of opportunity to game ... and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

DLC - best dry bolt lube for dusty environments?

Agree. Subscribing to precision shooter magazine way back when was NOT a good thing ... lots of lubes/products/snake oil pushed for the sake of advertising ... weren't they the ones that touted "fire-lapping" a barrel as the best thing ever ... what happened to that? ... crickets ...

Next-level gaming the system & switch barrel guns ...

There has been a lot of discussion about match formats, "original intent" and shooters "gaming" the system. Gaming the system derives from a natural human desire to improve or optimize one's condition and is not a bad thing until someone crosses the line of cheating/dishonesty which introduces...

    Proof Carbon Barrels

I have done some testing on my "GoLite" PRS / Hunting gun in 6x47 based Mausingfield and a Proof barrel. I believe that the accuracy is as good as my other match barrels: Bartlien, Kreiger ... etc. I also stress tested the barrel shooting 20+ rounds fired at a 1" dot to see if the POI wanders...

New HMR Pro - A Bit of a Letdown

Hmm @Primus makes some good points ... I was trying to play nice and hoping to supply the OP a little dose of reality ... did I waste my time?

New HMR Pro - A Bit of a Letdown

Agree. OP shoot your rifle. If it shoots better than 1" you are good. Practice, try different ammo and you might be pleasantly surprised that the gun is capable of 1/2 MOA ... Worst case, send it to MileHigh and they will fix it up so that it DOES shoot 1/2 MOA or better ... after that its a...

New HMR Pro - A Bit of a Letdown

Its all about correctly setting and then slightly exceeding expectations ... do that in any endeavor and you will enjoy MUCH success. 20 - 25 years ago getting a rifle that was guaranteed to shoot 1/2 MOA or better was $4,000+. We have been blessed to live in a time where there are many...

DLC - best dry bolt lube for dusty environments?

Interesting. I will look into dry lubes. Anyone else have any experience with dry lubes in the field? I have always just cleaned actions after a dusty day shooting and then lightly lube them but cringe a taking them back out as the oil is a dust magnet. What do others do?

DLC - best dry bolt lube for dusty environments?

I was blessed to have a great Thanksgiving shooting steel at distance with my kids and extended family in the Arizona desert. I was shooting a custom .308 built on a Badger Ordinance M2008 action. It ran great but I did notice the constant dust and at the end of the day I started feeling...
