    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I just made ~200 more rounds last night. Starline Basic Straight wall converted w/ Hornady 100gn BTSP. These will be plinkers and are primarily for fire forming. I used LeverEvoloution, but forgot/wished I had used the ppVarmit that I have on hand and save the LL for the Bergers.

Firearms Alabama Redneck Guns & Night Vision Swap Meet?

Strat edge in TN is 1250. I'm always looking for gas share/spotters.I have heard that the Blue and Grey range in guntersville is putting in a 1k range. There is also another separate range in Guntersville that is new and has like a 580yd range. Paradaise shooting.. Alabama precision has 1k but...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

That's a great test. I have been leaving my brass long around the max and had no issues and minimal/no trimming after initial (annealing every time). I like that you added testing the gas block wide open and closed. One other thing I did a while back was disassemble the bolt and check max trim...

    300 PRC update

Got some ladder loads today. Good flat primers and noticeable ejector marks on the upper end. Now that I have the limits, I can work down and find a node. I also have the Tuner Brake to mess with too. looking forward to warmer weather.

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

when you mention the bullet base matching the shoulder/neck junction: do you mean the absolute base of the bullet or the boat tail bearing junction. I have been trying to basically match both junctions together, but maybe I'm doing it wrong, (again??). When I seat 100 gn Hornady SPs to work...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Dang, quite a variety there, thanks for tuning us in! This is my first 6mm. I'm most interested in the Berger 105s looks pretty similar to my fav load. I'm hoping to have a decent shooting day and try the 1250 plate with it sometime this spring. It really depends on how windy it is at the time...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

I scored some Lapua Grendle brass at the LGS yesterday. It has my name on it I almost forgot, now I have a fun lunch errand. Pics for sure, they will be loaded up with my personal fav 105Berger VLDs and LL..Those are my preferred fav, but I'll try the sierra 107s or Barnes if I see them. (I had...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Agree wasting components is much more of an issue nowdays. It is cool to see a group grow and shrink and the velocities stabilize. Another way to look at wasted components is a to know what doesn't work, otherwise you 'd always be guessing if there's a better node. 143ELDx is my 6.5 RAP fav...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

That sounds like a good efficient process. How do you determine your ladder load start and end and interval? I normally start at book low and work up to halfway to book max on the inintial session. Going up by 1 grain or .5 grains and just get used to the rifle while on the low side and look for...

    300 PRC update

I wussed out and got a used Bergara LRP here for cheap. I'm not top tier gear guy but it shows promise. I just got some 198 gn PVA solids to try with it after it warms up a bit.

    6mm ARC Easy Mode

I havent shot Varget, but when I started and shot ppVarmit and Leverevoluion, my primers looked like the ones on the left at the high end of my ladder loads, with a couple that were just barely pierced (you could barely tell but blowing on the casemouth is a good way). I just went down about 3/4...

    6mm ARC Easy Mode

Its a starting point. You can see it has potential. He's shooting 5 round groups, he could have easily stopped at 3 or 4 and posted those. I do think that is a good comparison of higher pressure primers vs not quite so much. BUT, there is that one that is pierced which is strange. I'd load 10...

    New 6mm Advanced Rifle Cartridge

Finished the other batch of blank brass converted. There were about 20 rounds that had dents, deformations. Its' a lot of work. I would just normally wait for 6.5 Gr brass but I had it from last year. https://www.brassbucket.net/2021/04/13/6mmarc-brass-forming-from-straightwall-blanks/ loaded...

    300 PRC update

Got bored and started ladder loads with the Berger 230 OTMs. Compared them to the Hornady 225ELDMs they are noticeably less pointy. load data has them maxed out @2645 which seems really low. I'm thinking of trying some copper solids next - 26" 1:9" twist barrel w 7828SSC or N565: thoughts...

    300 PRC update

great tips, I never would have guessed that a .02 mil difference would take that much effect. Great real world example. I still use foamies and can barely hear the gong at 1250 but I could see how e-muffs could help with that.
