    Remington custom shop

Re: Remington custom shop Service from the custom shop is the WORST service from any gun manufacturer that I've ever dealt with. I worked for a gunshop/gunsmith so I have dealt quite a bit with most manufacturers and remington in general has terrible service but the custom shop was Brutal...

Why not the Winchester model 70

Re: Why not the Winchester model 70 If the US Military switch to M70's/FN's tomorrow...there would be so many 700's in the FOR SALE section that your head would spin! Many shooters follow what the Military shoots. I like Rems and M 70's but I would take a M70 CRF if I needed a rifle for a...

Poll: Best match barrel for Savage

Re: Poll: Best match barrel for Savage Asking for 1/4 moa from a factory action is asking a LOT! The only way you are going to get 1/4 for the MOst part is from a combination of a great bbl, accurized action, aftermarket or reworked trigger, Excellent bedding job and stock. A bbl in and of...

    300 win mag recoil

Re: 300 win mag recoil A full load 200 WM in a 12 lb or less rile without a muzzle brake or can delivers a decent whack to you. Certainly quite a bit more than a 308. Not fun to shoot 100 rounds a day.

Re: FN SPR Bent Firing Pin? I have NEVER EVER heard of a rifle that had a bbl that was Noticeably bent///and I have been around guns quite some time. If it was dropped. it must have been dropped from a 5 story building.

Whats the deal .223 with 1 in 9 twist

Re: Whats the deal .223 with 1 in 9 twist I had a 700 PSS in 223 that shot Sierra 52 gr hpbt bullets better than Everything else. If you don't mind loading single shot style....try Hornady 75 Amax bullets at around 2.359" with either 24 grains of RL15 or Varget.

Any one have experience with howa rifles?

Re: Any one have experience with howa rifles? Great rifle! They are made in Japan and are the twin of the Weatherby Vanguard sans a few minor cosmetics. The actions are very solid, triggers are adjustable and every one I've owned easily shot sub MOA with handloads. They are quite popular in...

    223 min barrel length

Re: 223 min barrel length One thing to keep in mind.. If you reload for 223 and use a 16" bbl, I would use the fastest burning powder that you can shoot accurately with your chosen bullet. You will burn a greater percentage of powder and that will help keep the velocity up.

Breaking in a new barrel. Help me do it right!

Re: Breaking in a new barrel. Help me do it right! I will chime in and say that I have pretty extensive experience in bbl break in/not breaking in as I worked for a gunsmith and performed many experiments with bbl break in. Fact is....you can't take ONE particular bbl and break it in AND just...

    Remington factory triggers bad?

Re: Remington factory triggers bad? The older Remington factory triggers (approx pre 1980) were excellent triggers. Until lawyers Fucked that up for shooters. I have had the olders triggers adjust down to a Crisp 1lb.

Shilen accuracy: Select Match Grade vs Match Grade

Re: Shilen accuracy: Select Match Grade vs Match Grade I've used Douglas, Shilen & Pacnor Match bbls and Super Match bbls and with custom tailored handloads couldn't see much of a difference. That being said...The price difference is miniscule when you factor in the heavy expense of ammo...
