6.5 twist rate for 139-142gr projos

Re: 6.5 twist rate for 139-142gr projos Ok speed has a effect on stability. It doesnt mean as much as twist but for example a whisper is going to take alot more twist cause the bullets is going so slow. A extra 200-300 fps is going to equal about a .5" of extra twist but it might not stay...

6.5 twist rate for 139-142gr projos

Re: 6.5 twist rate for 139-142gr projos There should not be a need for anything faster then 8.5 unless you are using a really slow case. The 264 should push the 140 or 142's with a 1:9 but its something you will have to try. Its just to close to tell.

Re: Broken 10-32 tap. Have any tap extractors they will make your life easier? They also make a acid that will eat the taps out which is really nice. It only eats really hard metals. There is also a special carbide drill that is used to take out broken taps. They dont look like a drill more...

Neck sizing vs Full Length sizing?

Re: Neck sizing vs Full Length sizing? Sig you remove the bolt so the spring and cocking piece dont effect the feel you have on the round chambering. I remove it when i find my seating depth cause you really feel the lands touching bullet.

Gunsmithing 700 blow up, is the action still good?

Re: 700 blow up, is the action still good? Headspace is a good indicator of how the pressures effect the action. If it didnt move you should be fine. I would check the lug to action surfaces with a small lapping job. If they still meet up square you should be fine. Runout across bolt face is...

    bolt hard to close question

Re: bolt hard to close question You might want to up to .005 bump on them. Its easy to tell if its the bullets seated to long you will see the land marks on it after you get it ejected. They will like to stick as well. I use a r7 press and just leave the dies set in it. Then you never have to...

    Load/powder help for 300 WSM

Re: Load/powder help for 300 WSM H4831 and h1000 would be better powders for heavier bullets like 200+ range. A good bullet to use hunting would be the 180 Nosler Ballistic tip or the 180 TSX. The Nosler BT's are good to use after 200 yards but not really any closer.
