PRS Talk Reducing barricade target to 6”

I'm assuming you're talking about the standard PRS tiebreaker stage? I think a 6" plate could be more likely to have target failures at 400 yards. It would also get a bit sporty if the barricade was wobbly and/or blowing in the wind. Out west it seems the typical PRS barricade is made of 2x4's...

Rifle Competition Events What Binoculars are you using for spotting?

Swaro SLC 15x56 are the gold standard IMO, having worked my way up from cheaper Vortex 10's. I've also got Meopta 12x's and have compared the SLC's to the Swaro 12x Pure and have looked through Leupold and Meopta 15's.

Who are the top five Pro shooters in PRS over the last five years?

The top 5 has ebbed and flowed over the past 5 years. 5 years ago Matt Brosseau was dominant but he doesn't shoot much anymore. If you had to pick the current top shooters looking at their average scores and placements over the last 3 years, I would say the list would be (in no particular...

    Educate me on mirage shenanigans

I’ve seen it go both ways (high or low) depending on terrain. Not sure if I could explain why… it was just the correction that was needed for multiple shooters.

I've had them drop it once, but all the other times they've checked ID.

    PRS Talk SPR for PRS?

Absolutely 100% bring the 6.5x47, it's a fine rig for PRS. The only thing you need to add is a gamechanger shooting bag (or similar). Shooting an AR 5.56 would be miserable in a match like that, even for an experienced shooter.

    NRL Hunter LRF Question

I believe Collin Fossen won the overall NRL Hunter season finale last year using a separate LRF and binos, mounted side by side on a rail.

Dusty, Grimey Tater Tots, Gamechangers, Schmediums? Is support bag cleaning a thing?

You guys clean your gamechangers?? Mine have a nice patina going. Every time I've bought a new one the first thing I do is throw it in the dirt. Honestly through all my stuff was pretty dusty from the Idaho match a couple weeks ago. I used an air compressor to blast off the excess from...

Load development on virgin brass - never again

Lolol, I'm around, work is just busy so less time to post. Still shooting lots of matches. I did solve my problem about load development on virgin brass though... Now I just shoot Dasher/BRA. No need to bother with load development, and the brass lasts so long you never need to bother with new...

    Competition Rain Gear

I live in the Pacific NW and have shot many very wet matches. Stuff I like: Mountain Hardwear goretex rain shell and lightweight rain pants that can be pulled on/off over my regular match pants and boots. All very lightweight packable stuff but a good outer layer for rain and wind. Goretex...

Give me your input on how to practice.

Practice for us is all positional, almost never prone, mostly just use a step ladder for a barricade. Build/break a position every shot. Sometimes will run a 5 position 5 round "stage" but more often will just do single shot drills with a shot timer. Sometimes going for pure speed, more often...

    lets see your foundation stock

LOVE my Foundations - have four of them now. Still competing with the same MG2, have a second MG2 trainer, my daughter is shooting a Centurion, and we have an Exodus Rim-X as well.

    lets see your foundation stock

I've got the Tungsten kit in my MG2 as well. Kit weighs about 4.1lb. My rifle is about 23lb with an M24 contour barrel and balances very nicely.

Bulk 223 brass for trainer rifle?

I've always used once fired mil brass for my 223 trainer. No sorting or any sort of brass prep other than dealing with crimped primer pockets and trimming to a uniform length. I went through 1k pieces of LC brass that I retired after 8-9 firings, and am currently shooting 1k pieces of Win...

Failure to Fire / Light Strikes when reloading .223 on a Dillon 550

450's have a harder primer cup and are more prone to light strikes, I believe BR4's are similar. Try standard CCI400's or Federal primers and see if that helps. My 223 trainer bolt gun has never really liked 450's, I've had light strikes also. Regardless, agree with getting primer seated a bit...

Big issue with QuickLoad & Ramshot Powders

There are things that Quickload is not going to get perfect. Some powder lots are are faster/dryer than other lots, some barrels are tighter than others, some powder doesn't behave completely linearly with temperature or as you approach max pressure, it might not take into account case specific...

    Spotters Swaro STX vs BTX

Yes, and one cool thing is you can put your phone on one eyepiece and still look through the other eyepiece like a traditional spotter while simultaneously videoing or taking pics.
