M70 with Unertl 8x/12x, mounting options?

RandomGuy makes a good point about the base screws. Don't use the Chinese screws in the package. Get American screws. In your original post, u state the 70 target u have is drilled and tapped. U use the front receiver holes and the barrel holes approximately 6.5" in front of the receiver...

    Secret Service “JAR” rifle

Schneider was used after usmc went Schneider . Hart was first. Ray Sweets hand in this is pretty suspicious there... Sweet, RVN USMC, FBI Sniper builder and instructor, and always in the background at Perry for 20-25 years or more. The A191 was a later Crane US Navy deal, and didn't meet...

Gary is dead, and it's sold, don't remember who bought it. The transition was rough. Don't know what the service is now. My guy said the first barrels were hart. Waiting on a current SS gunsmith to respond.

    Secret Service “JAR” rifle

What I do know, is: Back in the day, when Ray Sweet built the FBI rifles, the chrome moly barrel was a Douglas, and the stainless was a Hart. Remington used Hart's on custom shop 40x rifles. I've see a ♡ stamp on early m40A1's. Then Schneider on the m40xx's.... The US Customs shooter...

Have Bud who shot w Carl & John Whidden, who talks to John at least once a week. I've bumped him on asking Carl. We were discussing something similar just last week... because..... I can't verify Ray Sweet was involved in building the SS rifles like he was in building the FBI rifles, but...

No LRF, even though ppl who came through here have used them. Thermal hunting has many facets. Knowing distance is critical in any hunting, especially with rainbow trajectory cartridges, and even more critical at night. On "normal pig" hunting at night when walking on them, 100 and...

Basic built Armalite ar10 in 7-08, leupold, and dead air. Basic ar15 223, leupold 1-4, SF Socom And we kill them at all times of the 24 hour period. They are pests like roaches. However, an edible pest. 125# summer kill peanut fed sow, maybe better than any store purchase pork, imo.
