    EAGLE- USA vs. offshore made

Is there a way to determine if an Eagle Industries item was USA made, or made offshore if no tags are still attached? Do the offshore (i.e. Dominican Republic or Puerto Rican) made items have something other than the "Eagle USA" brand label? Or do they retain the "Eagle USA" label but have a...

    Advanced Marksmanship "Reading" wind

I don't know, but I can say that I didn't believe it when I first heard about it. Try it for yourself. Find a berm with a good mirage signature in front of it, and focus one way, then the other. When you go out of focus "past" the berm (though obviously not really looking past the solid berm)...

    Stupid Case Storage Question

The concern isn't storage, so much as damage from dropping the case, in which case you are correct that it is preferable to have the scope toward the handle.

    Advanced Marksmanship "Reading" wind

Remember, too, to be sure that you are focusing ahead (closer) of any object you are using as your background. If you take the focus beyond your background reference, the mirage will often appear to flow the opposite direction.

    Question on free floating barrel?

Bedding forward of the recoil lug should only be under a straight cylinder section of barrel, no taper.

What you can see with your naked eye will look like a torch in night vision. Maybe that's why the military does not use the green?

    M40a1 build guide

It was a civilian stock for a single-shot 40x, needed inletting, had a hairline crack in the forestock, needed the recoil pad replaced. The only thing it had going for it was the semi-smear pattern. Still, I'm surprised it didn't sell at that price for the pattern alone.

    USMC tube Data Book question

I assume you are filling it out for your M40A1? "Zone" is left blank, or a dash is run through that block. I'm almost positive that EFC Value means "Equivalent Full Charge Value", and is used for recording artillery shell counts. Only "Round Count" applies for what you are wanting.

Cleaning question. Should last patch be dry or wet?

The reason I've heard (too much) oil can affect a bore is because oil is not compressable. The bullet does not just "push" all the oil out as it travels down the bore. It rides over those incompressable droplets. I imagine the gilding metal of the bullet indents first, but perhaps "too much" oil...

    First firing M40A1

That's a really nice looking rifle. I love how the clip contour is right. Not very many builders get that to look right. Redmanss, is there a reason why you didn't just tie knots in the ends of the 550 cord to keep it from slipping out? Even with knots I can see how tape would be good to hold...

Rifle Scopes Unertl USMC sniper USO mst100

I believe they were more on the A3s than any A1s, if any. They were kind of late to see any significant use on A1s, but I wouldn't hesitate in the least to use one on an A1 build. It's as "correct" as you can get without having to find a T-series Unertl or paying twice as much for a worn out...

I wish to order 1 sealed case of standard LAPUA 308 brass (1000pcs) from Bruno's

And that's just it. Anyone would assume that if the shipping charge is not an up front flat rate, then the shipping will actually be calculated for what it is, not some inflated price for profit. Shame on the sneakiness when shipping isn't shown up front, only to end up being some ridiculous...

    Recommend a scope cover?

I would think the weak link would be the plastic buckles, not the nylon straps. I would never trust my rifle to being suspended by plastic buckles, even three of them. But, that's just I, and my rifle.

    CMP Auction Unertl 10x

No solid numbers for you, but I can say this...... All the "USMC SNIPER" Unertls I have seen were in the 1xxx series, meaning no more than 1000 of those could have been produced. The "10X SNIPER", 2xxx series was reserved for law enforcement, and I understand only in the neighborhood of 83...

Do you remove muzzle brake during cleaning?

See, now, I've heard the opposite. When using Sweets we were told as long as the solvent was wet there was no danger of the stainless being attacked. It was only after the Sweets was dry that oxygen and moisture could combine with the residue, forming an acid that would attack stainless. I...
