    AIAT 308 top rail swap

    Rail is screwed to the top of the action and just lifts off after you undo the 4 screws. Not glued on or anything because it has a recoil lug design ... unlike removing a TRG rail!!!!! :rolleyes:

    Stock for AW cut 700 action

    Not a common occurrence but can happen. If the DBM is set up for a tight fit on AICS mags, then the AW mag will fit very tight or possibly not latch at all. If this happens, may need to slightly shave a hair off the top of the latch.

    Did you go with an illuminated 5-20x50? If YES -- it's not the ring spacing that would make the QD mount incompatible, it's the limited tube length between the turret housing and the illumination control on the scope. Google image search SPUHR SP-4036 ULTRA SHORT and you'll see what I mean...

    Does he wear glasses? My eyesight blows chunks and when I shot a few of my setups, I'm somewhat staring thru the edge of my lens which I know gives minor distortion. I've found while the scope tracks perfectly out to distance, the POI is different for other folk who shoot my rifle without glasses.

    If you suffer sheer boredom and/or perfectionism, there is always image ratio analysis ... but this can give you a quick estimate. The shorter height is a 30mm tube, the taller height is a 34mm tube. This was optic height above the crown.

    Random perspective if you reload ... I had (2) GAP 6.5x47 builds on hand, so I went with GAP for my last rifle. All 3 have near identical chambers with only 0.005" variance, so I share ammo & load recipe among them with great result. Beats having different lots of ammo specific to each gun...

    Based on this comment, I would say the TA. I own rifles with both T4 and T. While I do prefer the T overall, I like them both. If I could only have one, it would be the T because the slimmer, lighter & more traditional contour makes it a better all-purpose stock. I like the T4 more than T2...

    Furious over my Tikka T3 !!!

    The only way I was able to loosen screws on Sako/Tikka factory base screws myself was lay the barreled action on a flat surface and let a hot clothing iron sit on it for 20-30 minutes.

    TRG mags are double-stack. About the same size as an AW mag. I would bet the T3 receiver is opened up to accept the TRG style mag ... just like the difference between actions that take AICS vs AW mags.
