Gunsmithing Rem 700 Jewell trigger problem

If your overtravel screw backs out too much the trigger will not break. It will start out like you described, and get to the poit where it will not let go at all once the screw backs out enough. This is the screw located on the bottom side of the trigger. Tighten it half a turn and try it. If...

    6.5x47 Lapua, Who Shoots Them?

One of the many great 6.5 calibers IMO. I had one in a tactical rifles which I sold. Didn't sell it because I didn't like it, but because I had two in the same caliber. The second is in a bench rest configuration, which I still have and shoot it once in a while when the weather's nice and cool...

    Gunsmithing Rem 700 bolt squeak

Yeah...... Metal to metal usually creates squeaking noises. A little, and I mean little bolt grease on the lugs and camming area of the bolt will cure that issue, I think.

    Gunsmithing question on recoil lug...

Stick it in the stock and torque it to about 55 inch pounds, then go shoot it. You might be surprised at the results.

Gunsmithing 40hp Rotary Phase Converter Startup

What is that? By the way that video a few posts ahead is aewesome. I knew a few years back that those not getting into CNC machinery for building rifles like these are working on borrowed time. That's if they're looking to make any real money at it. eventually production will speed up, wait...

Gunsmithing Holland action wrench w/ Surgeon action?

Yes it can. I have the same wrench and when I tried my first Surgeon years back, I noticed the problem. I set it up in the mill and cut a slot in the wrench where it needed it. Works perfect.

    Rem gunsmithing

Everyone use many different smiths here for Remington's because there's so many very good ones. Trying to say that there's no one smith that's the only good one that everyone goes to. I let those guys respond to your inquries.

Gunsmithing whats your favorite reamer holder

None of my business what you do, but with results like that from a home made copy of the original, why go looking for something better? BTW, you got knuckle busted because you bound the reamer with too big of a cut. I have the Bald Eagle, but also have the Manson. Both work well, but the feeling...

    Gunsmithing Bedding Mini Chassis

Do as you may, but I personally would follow Manners instruction to a tee which doesn't call for any kind of bedding, and go shoot your rifle. The last three rifles I've put into Manners Mini Chassis shot super tight groups without bedding. Plus I'm sure right now you're not thinking of resale...

You're welcome. in the few years I've been here, I see people whom want this particular info asking on a regular basis. This has taken a bit of time to put together and would save a lot of time and posts when others want this info in the future.

To brake or not to brake?? 6.5 Creedmoor

Ding ding ding, best answer. Damn government is always talking about the safety concerns for hearing loss, but make it difficult to protect your hearing through the use of a suppressor by all the crap you have to go through to get it. Every rifle shooter should go through the trouble to get one...

    defiance??

For a best answer, call Defiance. Delivery times can change on any given day. Just because someone here was quoted 4 months doesn't mean it will be the same for you. A Freind of mine was told 5 to 6 months, but that was two months ago. BTW, they truly are fantastic actions and worth the $$$.

    Gunsmithing tightening down muzzle brake

I agree with your reply, only mine was assuming his brake was the kind that came with instructions to torque to a specific value. Like on an AR or a QD suppressor adapter/brake. A buddy of mine asked me to install one that looks like a flash hider from AAC and the instructions said to torque to...

Gunsmithing Nothing better than finding the perfect tooling!

First congrats on finding something that works great for you. The best tool sure makes it worth using, verses just the right tool. Second, I too feel I have to comment on the above statement of this should be reserved for "licensed gunsmiths". WTF is a licensed gunsmith? One that went to a two...

Lipstick on a PIG! ****Updated 9/19****

Bob, your rifle looks great, and your training with Robert shows. I too have the same rifle, only mine is in 308. I could not believe the accuracy of mine with match ammo. Not that I love the way it looks in factory trim, but I haven't brought myself to making it look like yours. I mostly have...

New guy jumping into rifle shooting and building a trainer

Couldn't agree more. I just opened a package which had my Vortex PST 1x4 scope for my AR, and I'm very impressed with the quality of the build materials. I know the PST line might be a little more, but I'm sure they build with the same quality in mind for all their scopes.
