Rifle Camo, why? (Can of worms)

LMAO!!!! This is my favorite answer with "because I fucking want to" right behind it for second best answer. Aren't we in America, where we still have a choice, somewhat, of what we want our personal shit to look like??? If you don't like camo, don't paint it camo. Who cares if the owner is an...

    Gunsmithing Barrel Contour question

Manners will inlet the stock for what ever barreled action you have, and they are very familiar with Bartlein contours, believe me. As for dropping right in, you would do good top order it with the mini chassis. This will afford you the option to not bed the action into the stock. I have not had...

    rem 700 AAC acurracy

I too would recommend the 5R mostly because I've had the opportunity to shoot a few of these, and all shot fantastic. What's fantastic?? 3/8 MOA or better in some cases with FGMM 168 ammo. Yes, all were .308s. All these rifles came in to my shop for stock changes, threading, and or shortening of...

    Gunsmithing Bedding question

I think that looks fantastic. Where ever it chipped around the edges is not anything more than cosmetic, and can easly be repaired. Just clean everything up and reapply release agent to the metal, assemble the rifle, and fill the voids even with the edges. Simple.looks good in the pictures though.

.22 LR ammo is back to normal

Eley Club .22lr Ammunition This where I just bought 30 boxes (3 bricks) of Eley Club. This has always been the regular price since I've been buying it anywhere else. They had 400 boxes of just this stuff, and lots of everything else in the match ammo. The shipping to me was $18.00 which I...

.22 LR ammo is back to normal

I shoot mostly match grade .22 and no one in my area carrys it. Therefore I have to depend on Internet orders from places like Bruno's, and Champion Shooters. Last year it was mostly hit or miss with those two, but it seems that lately they have plenty of SK, Eley, and Wolf. Bruno's has the...

    Gunsmithing Precision gunsmith listings?

Well, there have been a few picture threads on here on how to properly blue print/true a Remington action by damn good rifle builders such as William Roscoe for one. Mine is a bit out dated, but it gives you an idea of what is done, which was one of the reasons I posted it. As for a list of...

    Gunsmithing Bedding question

If I may, please let me suggest the following if you've never tried it before. Start by making sure that everything fits together as it should. Then prepare everything as if you were ready to bed it. That means tape where you need it, release agent where it goes, cleaning tools such as Q tips...

    Gunsmithing Bedding question

Since you mentioned me, I do use tape to center the barrel when necessary. The one in the video aligned perfectly, so I didn't. Also, when I have to inlet a stock for a bigger barrel, I don't worry too much about the stocks edges being perfectly in line with the barrel. I cut the channel about...

Gunsmithing 40hp Rotary Phase Converter Startup

This video gives me a hard on! I have never gotten to actually work on a bare hands crew out of a chopper, but as part of our apprenticeship, we spent two weeks training with high line. We all got to go up in a high line bucket and bug on to a 500KVA circuit before we could graduate. Very few...

    Gunsmithing Questions for smith

Jona is very correct, and since I know Mark is one to do it this way, I recommended him. This guy above is another one of my list of recommended smiths for any type of precision rifle work. Notice I said some smiths want the muzzle devise when they thread the barrel to check that it fits before...

    Gunsmithing Questions for smith

Legally yes. There's a standing letter put out by ATF that allows gunsmiths to accept NFA items for repairs. Repairs only. That means it doesn't leave their shop for any reason. I had a copy, but that went into the trash when I closed down, and I didn't look it up. An FBI agent did it for me...

    Gunsmithing Questions for smith

By the way, this is just a suggestion, but wait until you have the can in hand to send it to an SOT dealer/gunsmith for threading. Some like to have the muzzle devise in hand when doing the work to ensure the best thread fit possible. Some don't.

    Gunsmithing Questions for smith

For me STR stood for my company name Suarez Tactical Rifles when I thought I wanted to build Precison Rifles for a living. Took a few years to figure out there were better ways to earn my food, so now I'm just a hobbiest who knows a bunch of good guys that do really good work. If I didn't do my...

    Gunsmithing Questions for smith

Do your self a huge favor and spend a few pennies by shipping it to someone who does this every day like Mark Gordon at Short Action Customs in Ohio and it guaranteed to be correct. There are many others on this site that can do the same, only he's my favorite, and I don't feel like doing a lot...

Damn!!! Whole bunch of electrical guys on here that love gun shit. I love it! What was this thread about again? LOL!! I can really appreciate the towers you have climbed because I've had the exact pleasure, and know that most don't have any idea of what it's like. Only there weren't any ladders...

BTW, it's always easier and usually not a very expensive investment to overrate your wire size when the run is short. In other words, if the amperage draw calls for # 8 wire, you can go # 6.
