Gunsmithing 40hp Rotary Phase Converter Startup

I know a little bit more about electricity than building rifles, so I can say that the above is GTG. You can do the install your self, but you must respect electricity very much because it's not prejudice nor biased. It will flat out kill you if you mess up. It only takes 1/10th of an amp to...

    Gunsmithing New Grizzly G0670 Lathe

300sniper, I had a feeling that's why you got the 40 HP unit, but I wasn't sure. I know it's a big investment, but you're correct in that now you can run anything you want out of your garage. I love your work.

    Gunsmithing Barrel vise recommendation?

I've the Brownells from day one and have been happy with it. I have had to make a couple of aluminum inserts for a couple of odd sized barrels that I didn't have in the Brownells set, but that's no big deal. You can also make your own wrench if you have time and machines like Sniper300 did...

    Gunsmithing New Grizzly G0670 Lathe

40 horse!!!! Holy F**k!!! That's a lot of capacity. I'm assuming you're running a shop where many machines run at once. I have a 7.5 HP American Rotarty which I used when I still kept my tools at home. Now it just sits there, but I could run my Bridge Port and 5 HP lathe without overloading at...

    Gunsmithing Gunsmithing deals thread

Not to many places like ENCO when it comes to true discount on tools that I know about. No worries on missing out on any deals with them either. Once you start your account, you'll recieve all their discount codes via email. They already have competitive pricing, so you know they are not marking...

    Gunsmithing Seized Surefire Brake

Since you're getting a new barrel and test fitting agian. This is a little trick that works very well, and I'm 100 % will be criticized. First off, if you encounter any interference at all, STOP! Put a very small amount of 1000 grit lapping compound on the barrel threads and very slowly work it...

    manners mini chassis

I too own one, and I like it very much. No need to bed. Just follow the directions for tightening the barreled action in the mini chasis. I also have two friends I shoot with that really like them.

Gunsmithing Milling a laminate wood stock

Maybe my cutters weren't sharp enough to cut wood after cutting lots of epoxy materials. A zillion stocks, huh? That's a lot of wood. I've only tried it on two so far, but now that you told me the secret, I think I'll buy a brand new cutter and try it agian just for shits and giggles. Thanks.

Gunsmithing Milling a laminate wood stock

It's all ready been said. Speed is the problem. Not fast enough on a mill to cut wood, no matter what bit/cutter you use. Instead of cutting, you'll get burning and chipping. Some guys use a router table which they set up just for wood stocks. Sand paper on the right size dowell also works, but...

    Gunsmithing Stiller bolt nose recess?

That's a great idea if you're not planning on doing a bunch. It's what was used before these came along anyways. I'm in your same shoes since I only do one occasionally anymore.

Gunsmithing I've had it with Tactical Rifles.

We all understand principal, but throwing more money into the fire doesn't help you. Asking for the parts from this clown won't work any better than asking for a completed rifle. Try it, but I'm with you in that he's not going to send you anything until he doesn't feel like it. Sending you your...

Gunsmithing I've had it with Tactical Rifles.

I certainly no lawyer, but I do know they don't work for free, and are very expensive. You can sue them, and win. Some judge will order them to reimburse your deposit after a good long fight which they will drag on. It really sucks, but the law protects bad businesses like this. I don't care for...

    Are Timney triggers worth it?

They are both great triggers, and each has it's place. Most of my rifles are meant to shoot in any environment, be it dirty or clean, so I use Timney. However, on my bench target rifle which will never be shot anywhere but a clean concrete bench, I use a Jewell.
