    Gunsmithing Bolt raceway reaming?

That is very debatable depending on who you talk to. The truth is I've seen rifles with the factory sloppy bolt that shoot crazy good. Same with rifles using a tight fitting PTG bolt. The PTG bolts have a more precise finsh than a factory one, and can be ordered with extractor options, and as a...

    New Shooter Schooling the Boy's

That's great! Love to see the kids shooting more so than the adults. Can't wait to have my 10 year old doing the same with my rifles. She's still on her .22, mostly because of me. That little girl in the truck is going to be one tuff kid. Belly down on that hard truck bed in flip flops, LOL!

    Gunsmithing Cerakoting a barrel

Heres one more. Take a bullet of the same caliber, and slightly tap it into the muzzle end point first. I know what a lot of you are thinking right about now. The crown!!! The bullet has a cooper jacket. The barrel is steel. You're not going to hurt anything. The Bullet will create a perfect...

    Gunsmithing Needed: Bolt Action Gunsmith

Brother, there's a bunch of guys here that can do everything you want, and it's no secret who they are. I read your profile, and you're recovering from a serious spinal injury that can't take a beating at this time. So I have to ask, why a 300 Mag? It's none of my business, but just trying to...

Gunsmithing Bedding the recoil lug, stuck

One more little bit of advise. You probably didn't use anything such as tape on the front and sides of the lug as reliefs. Therefore, even with good release agent applied, it will be hard taking it out, and putting it back in every time.

    Gradous rifle collection

That's a really nice collection. Best part is they get used, and it's a family thing. Enjoy!!

    Gunsmithing REM 700 trigger

Timney is my personal choice. Works fantastic and won't break the bank. Plus it's easy to adjust. What more could you ask for.

    Gunsmithing Action Question

While there's nothing wrong with a worked up Remington and a new quality barrel, you will not save much over a custom action after the smith is done with it. Ask your chosen smith for a quote, and do the math. The only way you will save any money worth saving is if you are doing all of your own...

Georgia on my mind "Gradous" UPDATE!

I love this thread! Robert is the only guy that I know who invited anyone to come build a rifle on his equipment. I've said it before, but this is truly a great experience for anyone wanting to build their own precision rifle without having to invest a ton of money on tools, and wasted time on...

Gunsmithing Bolt hard to move after Cerakoting...

It's actually better to just tape the stuff off like Keith does on these tight tolerance actions.

Gunsmithing Bolt hard to move after Cerakoting...

Just another fix for your little mistake is to put a small amount of 500 or 1000 grit lapping compound on the bolt body, and work it back and forth. Take the barreled action to a parts cleaner, and wash it out really well using a bore brush to get all the lapping stuff out. Use compressed air to...

You're a master with that tape and knife!! Love your work!

    Gunsmithing Rem 700 extractor type

Here is the simplist, most accurate reply in my opinion. I have dealt with all three mentioned, and the least problematic is the Mini. As for safety sake, well you can all see from the pics above of the action that a Remington extractor wouldn't have helped a bit. yes the mini on a magnum...

    Gunsmithing .22 Rimfire rebarreling/chambering

Thanks for your inputs guys. I will continue to do as you have suggested on more rimfire dedicated forums. I'm mostly on SH, but sometimes you need to go outside the box. Again, thanks you.

    Gunsmithing .22 Rimfire rebarreling/chambering

I have tried to get something informative started on this subject before, but have failed. While I feel that I can rebarrel or build a CF rifle from a barel blank that shoots damn well, I haven't got a clue as to do the same with a .22 Rimefire. I have a bunch of old model target .22s that shoot...

    Gunsmithing Another New Lathe Thread

There's always JGS Reamers and tools if you don't like PTG. They sell all the same stuff PTG sells, and pilots are the same. I like both, but when one doesn't have it, I check the other. I buy mostly from JGS when it comes to reamers anymore, and bolts from PTG. Congrats on the lathe, and best...
