Accuracy International AT - Worth It?

Apologies for the long answer. I do not compete, however in my line of work I deal with precision, accuracy, Cpk... I enjoy target shooting and try to eliminate as many variables as possible, I want to be limiting factor not the equipment, at same time there are diminishing returns on...

    5.56 at 1,000 yards

75 Gr ELD, FC brass, 2.47 oal (not magazine suitable); 24.2 Varget (per Hodgdon 25 is max), 24" Varmint bull barrel AR. 1200 yards with no to < 10 mph wind is doable. 2900 fps; 12 SD. 1000 yard milk gallon is fun. However once the wind starts 600-800 is the norm.

Broken extractor Ruger RPR 338 Lapua

Thank you for the feedback. Being reloading for several decades, for the 338 about two years. First time neck sizing for the 338. Sorry no pictures from the fired brass, already resized and polished, they exhibited no signs of stress, no flattened primers, loose primers, or signs of case...

Broken extractor Ruger RPR 338 Lapua

Howdy: Load: 285 ELD. 93.5 Gr Retumbo, brass Norma. Second attempt at neck sizing 338 (cause?) Last month I started neck sizing using the listed load. No issues until the 10th round, failed to extract. Extractions appear to require higher force when compared to full length sizing. When...

    Attracting hummingbirds

Last October I posted about our resident hummingbird. Wife called it Leslie. Since we are in moderate climate he did not migrate, he remains in the area however we seldom see other birds. We replace/refill the feeder once a week. Not related to hummingbirds but cool: Drone Hummingbird

Rifle Scopes Whats up with people buying tascos

A friend of mine is frugal when it comes to scopes and rings. In the past three years at least five scopes have failed. Barska, Tasco Millet Pinty? Last outing he had a scope ring with a stripped nut and was using washers as spacers. He argues that neither bullet jump nor brass brands make a...

AI AT Bolt Stuck 6.5 CM

Will do. I have gages and the AT barrels are prefit. I started with an AI AE back in 2000; reloading for rifles and pistols for several decades; never seen a case fail like this.

AI AT Bolt Stuck 6.5 CM

Ok, this is fun (NOT) barrel came off very easily, case was on the bolt, wiggled it free. I may have found the issue, the blown fragment (or portions of it ) is under the extractor inhibiting the bolt's rotation. I am removing the skins, scope and see if I have better access to the extractor...

AI AT Bolt Stuck 6.5 CM

Trigger is removed. Barrel is removed. Very minor movement on the bolt. Sprayed lubricant everywhere, no joy. This is puzzling. Don't want to go Neanderthal (yet)

AI AT Bolt Stuck 6.5 CM

Just got back from the range. Brass Hornady Bullet 140 ELD Powder H4350 OAL: 2.693 Was working a load (average of 5) 40GR /2592 FPS 40.3/2652 FPS 40.6/2663 40.9/2673 (nice group) 41.2/2693 (OH CRAP) At 41.2 the case yielded, and the bolt is now stuck (it moves a small amount). I have...

    Super Sniper Scopes

Robust scopes, mushy "clicks" excellent warranty when needed. Fixed scope due to their simplicity are inherent;y more robust. I have a 5-20 HD purchased during one of their sales. A 16X on a varmint 223 AR and a 10X on a customized 10/22. I first used a Super Sniper when sold by Tasco, I...
