Hornady and the 7mm 162 Amax

Nothing personal, I'm sure it is just business and I was just trying to find out how long "temporary" was as it related to the 162 Amax. Per the list, it looks like they will not make any if 2014 so it's time to go elsewhere. I've looked pretty carefully for these bullets for sale, if I have...

Hunting & Fishing What do you see?

Looks like a Bobcat or a Linx to me based on the pattern on the fur and the way it is holding itself.

Great thread Frank and a very interesting project. Yeah it looks cold but should turn the corner in a few months. Thanks for taking the time to post the info.

Hornady and the 7mm 162 Amax

Kind of wish Hornady would communicate their direction on this better than they have unless they did and I missed it. The person on the phone was not very positive but did say there was not any production schedule for that bullet. I know suppliers where I buy most of my stuff and they are...

Hornady and the 7mm 162 Amax

Anyone have any connections with Hornady that could shed some light on their plans for this bullet? I called them again the other day to see if it was still on the suspended list and was told that there were no scheduled plans to make any in the next 6 months....or the foreseeable future for...

Gunsmithing PTG One Piece Bolt for a 700

Trevor - yes they usually need fitted. They are designed to have a little extra in the right places so you can set head space and still have something to work with for extraction cam. This is especially true on "trued" actions where a few thou. has been machined off the bolt and action lugs.

Hunting & Fishing Another hunting death

I lived this experience first hand when I was a teenager and my friend shot himself with a shotgun. He lived but only because the wound was not instantly fatal and I was there to provide first aid and get help. At the time, I was no stranger to tough circumstances in life but it was easily the...

Gunsmithing PTG One Piece Bolt for a 700

Noticed you can get either a straight handle or 11 deg back-swept. Any advantage to going either way or is it more to match the cut-out in an existing stock?

    7mm-08 vs .260

Saw that...more 7mm options would be good. A bullet in the 150's with a high bc would be nice.

    7mm-08 vs .260

I have a 7-08 that I really like, accurate, low recoil and easy to load for. A lot of us are not real happy with Hornady's decision to stop production of the 162's but Bergers are an option. I don't think there is really any practical difference between the two cartridges, A high bc bullet in...
