    Does it matter?

Re: Does it matter? semi autos and MGs also tend to knarl up extractor rims on the cases. With some it gets iffy even getting them in a shell holder to deprime/load them. M14 and M1 fired cases were the worst as some of their extractors would really do a number on rims.

    Crimp Dies?

Re: Crimp Dies? I gave up crimping rifle ammo about 35 years ago. Rationale: 30.06 Military Match for M1 Garand is not crimped. 7.62 Military Match for M14 and M1 is not crimped. Federal Match ammo is not crimped. Rem/Win Match ammo is not crimped...

Primer Pocket Depth - Novice Question

Re: Primer Pocket Depth - Novice Question My uniformer is a Sinclair (there may be others) and I find it cuts on one side of the bottom of the primer pocket before the other. Measure the unseated height of the primer and add .003" to that and it should give you an indication of how much you...

    media for tumbling

Re: media for tumbling Wife and I were cruising flea market the other day and one of the all chicom dealers with 500 plastic carrying bins had fine mesh stainless steel collanders for $2.00 each. They appear to be identical to the ones Target sells for 8.00. So next time you see a flea...

    Stainless Steel Media Testimonials

Re: Stainless Steel Media Testimonials STS, wow, that drying bucket is THE TICKET for sure. Class act all the way. Have you tried just sitting it out in the sun and see how hot it gets? also it would seem sitting it in front of radiant heater in winter would do the trick as well?

How much energy does the gas system soak up?

Re: How much energy does the gas system soak up? Fusiachi You are correct the highest peak pressure occurs with the bullet out of the case mouth. Depending on propellant, the distance varies. Gas guns need a certain amount of pressure to drive the system. Overdriving the system is bad as it...

    Precision Mic vs Case Gage

Re: Precision Mic vs Case Gage Mo Zam is right, the precision mic lets you adjust your sizer to move the case shoulder back .001 or .002 to help avoid overworking brass. I use a Wilson gage for a quick reference for case length and to make sure cases are sized for FL applications. On the...

    FL Sizing Die Question

Re: FL Sizing Die Question I have like four sets of dies for 308 and they are numbered. One takes base dimension back to .468, another .469, another .470 then I make the decision how to set them up.I usually only shoot a couple rifles at a time and when I change over I set die to work that...

    media for tumbling

Re: media for tumbling Update on brass left out in weather. Starting to turn dark brown now. Been rained on half a dozen times so it is for sure the automotive wash&wax combo is worthless insofar as our needs are concerned. On the old 30.06 brass, gee they were scuzzy. Had to tumble them...

    media for tumbling

Re: media for tumbling brass has been in weather raining on it every day and is now starting to turn both the waxed and unwaxed at same rate so the wash/wax isn't going to get us anywhere. Stumbled across some 30.06 commercial once fired today in a garbage bag. No idea how long I have had it...

Re: media for tumbling I dumped the other stuff refilled with tap water and did 1/2 ounce of Dawn and 6CC Limishine and went off and forgot them for a couple hours. Came out gleaming. I mixed up some of the K Mart wash/wax in water and after rinsing the cases I put half of them in the...

Advanced Marksmanship Opinions WANTED on "Shouldering" the Rifle

Re: Opinions WANTED on "Shouldering" the Rifle Jhusky and the others are absolutely right and you are working yourself into a very bad habit. Now if you were shooting F class I could see the point but the "we bees bad boys" crowd don't act the same way. If you are seeing pulse with a bipod...

    media for tumbling

Re: media for tumbling Seawalker, Will try the ambient temp water. That will speed things up by not having to come into house, get hot water and carry it back out to shop. The hot water and the limishine must have a reaction or something. Also next thing I going to try is I got some car...

    Stainless Steel Media Testimonials

Re: Stainless Steel Media Testimonials Jewelers media is much much thicker. About 5 out of every 100 308 cases I tumbled required prying it out with dental probes and broke two in process. 30.06 it worked fine along with 35 Rem. Big necks or less tapered shoulders. Putting it in 7/08 cases...
