Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

That assumes that we all waited until early 2013 to buy .22 ammo.

    Movie Theater Elysium

Well put. I have no interest in the movie as sci-fi just isn't my thing but appreciate your take on separating actors and their politics from the consumption of their product. I want 90-200 minutes of entertainment and I don't align with anyone 100%, so if someone in Hollywood has an agenda...

    Favorite .22 Revolver???

Had one. Sold it. Deeply regret doing so.

    .22 lr ammo???

-and the same as it will be after the 2016 election.

Drag bag or Pelican? Which do most prefer

-pelican. If I can put $6K into a rifle, $200 into a case isn't exactly overkill.

    Watches?

Get a solid mechanical watch, a Rolex Submariner comes to mind (but they don't have a compass/ballistic calculator/toaster/blender on them).

Sako QUAD - CUSTOM Trainer @ EuroOptic - YOU SPEC!

This thread is going on nearly a year in length. At this rate, those Quads had better mow the lawn, buy the groceries, and cook dinner in addition to shooting well. I feel for those of you on the wait but this is absurd. The wait for the stock was uncomfortable when I did my Quad but it was...

April Houston gun show 22LR prices...

All the same folks whining about gouging now are the same ones that whined about it after the '08 election and are the same ones that will be back whining about it after the 2016 election. Some people don't learn, and if that means they have to pay far above what things should cost it merely...

Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

Of the non-Annie guns that folks are discussing, if you really want to dress up a rimfire to your specs with stock/scope/rail/Etc., within the range of rifles accessible to the common man, get a Sako Quad action/barrel (the factory synthetic stock belongs in the dumpster behind the local...

    long range .22 lr

20" barrel, subsonic ammo (WMT or similar), on 20MOA rail, 75 moa to get to 425 yards. On a calm day it's quite easy to ring 18" gongs with every shot in the magazine. As to the comment above about ammo out past 200 yards being subsonic and thus groups opening up....YOU START OUT SUBSONIC!

Info request: Out of the box accuracy - CZ455 vs Savage Mk II

I've owned both but no longer own either. Out of the box: -the factory trigger on either of them sucks. An aftermarket trigger helps tremendously on either option. -the fit/finish on the CZ is way ahead of the Savage. The Savage is crude by comparison. -accuracy, with each shooting its'...

    long range .22 lr

Yeah, same T-4 that everyone else seems to have a Quad in as well.

    long range .22 lr

islandermyk, I'm guessing the silhouette range at CRC is familiar to you (hearing bullet impact isn't a problem on calm days) -

    bolt action or semi-auto?

A $400 bolt action is likely going to be of higher quality and offer more accuracy than a $400 semi auto. The lines blur a bit as spending goes up.

    long range .22 lr

Gongs at 450y are my usual 'long' shots.

Suppressors What should I suppress first?

Agreed. I have suppressors for every caliber I shoot from .22 on up and if I had to get rid of all of them but one, I'd keep one of my SWR Spectre-II's for rimfire fun. As to the supersonic .22 ammo comment above, that's why everyone who cares about accuracy shoots subsonic ammo! I've not...

    Anschutz 64 MP R optics?

I like shooting out there a good ways (for a .22) so I have Leupold Mark-4 16x scopes on my .22's, with a 20moa rail, I can dial out pretty far.

    Scope Reticle Choices

If strictly shooting off the bench at paper 100+ yards away, the higher magnification scopes are nice and cause less eye strain. If you want to quickly find a target/squirrel/Etc., scopes over 10x get to be somewhat sporty. In terms of reticle, I've yet to find one I like as much as the TMR...
