    Maxium load is seasonal?

In addition to some powsers are more sensitive than others; As a reload ages waiting to be fired there is corrosional welding that goes on between the brass of the case and the guilding coating on the bullet. Fresh off the reload stand it may take only 50 pounds of force to slip a bullet out...

FL sizing: need some serious help

There is a reason you have nerve endings in your muscles. You can use those nerve endings to FEEL how the case is going into the die and stop before you jam one in there. Reloading is not an endeavour where you just ram stuff through a nameless die hoping for the best. Reloading in an endeavour...

    Case life- neck sizing

Rescently I ran such an experiment. I started with a fresh set of 50 count Win Brass 308. I used a Neck Only sizing strategy most of the time, and would bump the shoulders back 0.002 when they got too long. I measure the shoulder position before each reload cycle. I use Redding sleaved dies, a...

My AR15 (from 1985) has about 7000 rounds through it and looks like it has never been fired from the outside.

    Cleaning techniques. Share your opinions

I used to clean meticulously, pushing the brush in one direction, over and over and over. Then I found an easier method: 1) take a mop, 2) dip it in Hoppes #9 (or similar) 3) run it through the bore both directions 4) leave rifle in horizontal position for 3 days 5) 3 dry patches 6) done It...

    Kinda lost on this one

Often nodes come in pairs, one of the pairs has a wide window of tollerance to "stuff" happening, the other node has a narrow window. I think you have dialed in on the sensitive node (relatively poor unless everything is spot on) instead of the insensitive node (generally better).

    A little guidance: Case trimmers

I happen to have a lathe--a real one, but small. So I chuck up a LEE trimmer, spin up the lathe (1/2 HP) on its slowest setting, then mount, trim, dismount cases onto a holder that looks like a screw driver. It takes more time mouning and dismounting the brass than trimming the brass.

3rd or 5rd groups and how many?

3 shot groups lie to you more often than they tell you the truth. 5 shot groups tell you the truth more often than they lie to you. 4 shot groups are about 50%/50%.

Where do YOU draw the line on Pressure Signs?

Where do I draw the line: When I cannot get 30 reload cycles before the primer pocket no longer holds primers firmly. Note: I do get 30+ reload cycles with 155 Scenars being pushed by 47.8 gr Varget with Win cases--which is in no ay a light loading.

    Case neck clearance question

With clean ammo you can get by with 0.001 neck clearance radially but you still want 0.005" longitudinally to the end of the throat. When any dirt is envolved you are going to want 0.003 radially. Most factory chambers have 0.008 through 0.012.

Big 30 or 33 cal for build?

Given this input, I would stick with the 300s and in particular the 300WM even though the Belted case is old-school. However, given you can get around the std magnum bolt face problem, I would go with 338LM over rum and edge.

    Best Fl bushing sizer

The easy answer is:: 0.3355 - 0.002 = 0.3335 But since they don't make 0.3335 bushings you will have to try a 0.333 and a 0.334. The more difficult answer is that it really depends, on the gun, the ammo, the reloading procedures,...

300 win mag best barrel length looking to put can on , should i cut it or not

The last 4 inches of barrel length enable access to the last 100 yards of the caliber's range. If you don't plan on shooting at maximum distance barrel length is not so much of an issue. On the other hand, muzzle report will double when the last 4 inches of the barrel are removed.
