Cleaning question. Should last patch be dry or wet?

I think the "oil can ruin a gun" thing came from the days when WD40 became popular. A lot of guys would spray the stuff all over everything and into the barrel and put her away. IT RUINED A LOT OF GOOD STOCKS. In general, too much oil collects dust and dirt. If I shoot a cleaned gun, I watch the...

    Newby in town

Welcome to the Hide. Watch out for some of those videos. When you hear "Head on a swivel", that's not really a training video! Check out the reloading thread. LOTS of reloading for accuracy stuff, there.

Had another thought. By your account of the conversation: They would only give you a "fix" if you sent in the gun. Leads me to conclude that they have the parts, but only for malfunctioning guns. I think that's a law, somewhere. This could restrict what they can sell or do with parts that are...

    Changing a trigger

I'd advise putting this on the Vintage thread. Good luck, josh. from Josh.

    Something exciting, from Japan..Vintage WWII

Your memory is correct, Sir. The rear flip up sight had "wings", that flipped out to horizontal, on each side. The rifle I inspected did not have the wings, though the sight was set up for them.

I saw that one. This hole is on the bolt handle side, just above and back a little from the front receiver pin/screw. The bolt is stuck, partially open, and wont close or open. It just wiggles 1/4 in. either way. Because of that, I couldn't move the cover back far enough to see the script on the...

What's the most stupid thing you've been told?

Just back from the gun store. Part time know-it-all says "They don't make a 5 rnd . mag for the M1A. It's a military gun, and you can't hunt with it."

    Something exciting, from Japan..Vintage WWII

Well, I've seen the gun. It was in great shape. Had the cleaning rod, bayonet, dust cover. It ALSO had a 1/4" hole drilled in the forward part of the receiver, where "Uncle Bob" put a pin so the gun wouldn't shoot, anymore . Oh well.

    30 remington AR

I was recently "sniffing" around that caliber. My thought would be to wait/search for another gun from some one experiencing the same problem. OR : want to sell the upper? When buying classic cars, you some times have to buy 2, or 3 to make 1.

Rifle Scopes Ordered my scope today

Jason is great to deal with. Glad you called him. SWEET scope. Try to avoid the urge to keep it on the night stand, so you can wake up in the middle of the night and fondle/turn on the illumination. Congrats. The "cryin" is over.

Rifle Scopes varminting scope - 22-250???

How about something with an illuminated reticle for night shooting? I just got a vortex from Rangewalker for a good price.

Looking at my first custom build.

What site has the "hand of God" accessory? I'll take 2, please. It's pouring rain, here, and I guess I'm suffering a touch of cabin fever. I was tossing around the idea, for a while, only because I have quite a few 308s, and I rarely shoot the 300. Figured it was a dumb question, so....

    Something exciting, from Japan..Vintage WWII

Well, call me stupid. I was on the site, when it dawned on me to ask a question. Should have done some other searches, which I have, now, completed. The only time I heard any thing about them, was on a Sons of Guns episode, where they treated one like it was the golden fleece. Should have known...

Wanting a laser. Should I sell my GAP-10 or my TRG-42 300 Win mag or be patient and save my allowance for a while?

    Measuring 100 yards accurately?

OOOOH! We should do a group buy, for some of the "belittling loudmouth experts" on this site, so they can accurately measure their egos.

Assumed: Ariska, with emblems. I was out to dinner with a friend I hadn't seen, in a while. He's a "casual" friend, and a doctor, and not really into guns. The conversation wandered towards new hobbies, so I mentioned my interest in rifles and long range shooting. He tells me about this rifle he...

    Nosler 26 (6.5)

I've read a couple articles about it. These companies are trying to bankrupt us! Seems like we get a "new hot" caliber every year. Maybe I'll go back to muzzle loading. :-]

Best reasonably priced 223 bolt gun.

Sounds good. Let's shoot .I'll call ya. How's your scheduling ? Weekdays are best, at the range, except "Full-Auto Wednesday". Sometimes it gets a little loud, but great to watch. Otherwise, it's pretty deserted. And by the way, I've got that disease. I'm not really safe, at any gun counter.PS...
