Best reasonably priced 223 bolt gun.

Hey, BOPrey. When I tried to get in, at Atglen, they had a 2 yr waiting list, so I went to SCCS Ass. Got right in, but that was a few years ago. Does Atglen have their thousand yd. range back up and running? Rumor was they shut it down, cause some 50 cal. guys were hittin the high power lines...

Best reasonably priced 223 bolt gun.

Welcome to the forum. Savage is what I was looking for, but you might want to hit X-Ring, on 273, just east of Newark, and look at the Rock River Heavy stainless barrel AR, they have. Priced at $1050. I have the Stag version, and it shoots better that my Remmy 700, in 223. Plus it's a semi...

    Traveling and reloading?

Functionally, it's easy, The "wood" you need, would be about 2 in, wider than your press, 1 to 1 1/2 in thick, and about 2 ft long. Oak, or maple is best. Pine won't last. You can leave the press bolted to the board. or remove one bolt, loosen the other, and the press slides out. The 2 ft...

Stumbled on the 30 Rem AR cartridge. Feedback any one?

Thanks, Drifter. Been doing some research, and read RegalK's comment. Not much available. Did find ammo, Nice to know Midway has dies. Just thinking that the specs were good and wondered why I hadn't read/heard about it. I reload, and it uses 308 bullets. If I could get 500, or so cases/shells...

Stumbled on the 30 Rem AR cartridge. Feedback any one?

Ordered a 22-250, in a bolt gun, but I saw the 30 Rem AR, while leafing through my reloading book, and it seems interesting. Close to the 308/AR10 ballistics, from the AR 15 platform, i.e. smaller and lighter. Any one tried it? I'm looking for a couple "new "calibers, to play with.

What is the largest common caliber am AR 15

I was "looking for something different" and found the 30 Remington AR. A little slower than 308, but not that much. Shoots up to 160 grn. bullets. Faster than the 6.8 and 308 bullets? What's not to like? I never knew it was out there, till I was thumbing through my reloading book.

Where to find Remington 700 5r milspec .308

Good choice. I own 4. If he wasn't a "friend", I'd take back the one I "sold" [been waiting 7 mos. for the cash], and sell it to you. But, they are around. They come up, on this board, every once in a while, or follow the suggestions above. They are a great starter gun, and all of mine shoot...

Way to limit carbon build up at gas rings on ar?...

The easiest way.... wait for it............................................................... "Don't shoot it!" C'mon, every one thought it. I'm an expert at this cleaning thing. but I haven't shot mine enough to get any build up. I just buy as many as I can, and put em in my safe, next to...

Thought this interesting... How shortages came about...

"THEY" structured a gas shortage, prices went up, and will never go down. The oil industry posted record profits. Now it's ammo. Gee , seems like a good business plan, to me. While we get screwed, in the check out line.

    What can cause inconsistent velocities?

Anneal. Time to anneal. Pain to do, with out a machine, but that's when I get my best groups. First firing after annealing is like Christmas.

Problems with 22-250 RCBS Resizing Dies

it happens I'm on my 23? batch of 100, in a marathon reloading binge... checking loads with a flashlight...sure enough... found an uncharged case. I've been loading for 30 yrs. Happens to all of us.

Problems with 22-250 RCBS Resizing Dies

Are you checking the case length? Could that new Savage of yours be stretching them? Sounds strange . I'd pull the decap rod ass. out, do a "flashlight inspection" and try sizing one, after I measured a case, for length, with the ass. out of the die.. . The more I think about it, I'd focus on...

    45 acp and titegroup?

Hey, in Pa. I got my son an HK and did some load tests. It liked 5.8 grains Titegroup behind a 185 Ranier Plated HP.COL-1.225. I shoot those or Berry's plated, to save some cash. OK, in MOST ranges. Some indoor range officers get persnickity. That jug of yours will last long time! About 10,000...

Jewel trigger failures in the field?

I bought a gun, with a Jewell, a while back. It would "go off" when I closed the bolt. Pulled it apart for a clean up and adjustment, and it's been fine ever since. BUT.... I still treat the gun with a little extra "care and respect", and don't let friends shoot it.

    .22-250? Any one shoot it?

Thanks for that. Just "decided I need another gun". I just got a browning Varmint special in 223, but as I was doing my research, I kept seeing them in 22-250. This piqued my interest, and was looking at some nice numbers, in my manual. So I asked the question. Maybe there'll be room for another...

    Is anyone else worried?

Maybe in some corners of these states, kids still start with a home made slingshot, and spend their time looking for the best rocks to shoot. The beginnings of "ballistics 101". I don't think they'll get that out of the video games. Arizona, , Montana, Texas, etc. may have a higher ratio per...

    .22-250? Any one shoot it?

Looking for "just a little" more horsepower, in a .224, so I can use what I have in bullets, and powder. Barrel eater? Known as accurate? Haven't seen much talk about it, here. The specs in my manual look pretty good.
