USO's "new" swivel level, is it level?

My swivel type was also about 1/2 bubble off. I got a piece of mylar about .005" thick I think and put it between the mount and picatinny rail on the low side. That leveled it up. You can experiment with different thicknesses but I would not use a paper product.

    Stainless Steel Media Testimonials

I have been using this system for about a year and have found one caveat. If you clean with the primers in the pockets and use Dillion size-decap dies then a good many primers will not decap. I had about 4000 40 S&W cases and I had about 15% over all that would not decap. Speer was the worst...

    Dillon Customer Service=Non-existant?

I just got off of the phone with a customer rep. I had to make 5 tries to get an open line then was put on hold for about 45 minutes. That is bad but they are that busy.

Rifle barrel expansion with increasing temperature

Re: Rifle barrel expansion with increasing temperature Ed Kern is correct. I own a fabrication and machine shop. We frequently heat rings, (i.e. ring gears on flywheel) so that they can be easily slipped over the solid shaft or flywheel. When they cool down there is an interference fit...

    H4350 Temp/FPS change

Re: H4350 Temp/FPS change This sounds like the load I use in my 260. I chronographed in two temperature extremes to check the temperature affect. I came up with .44 f.p.s. change/degree of temperature change. Your results are similar to mine. By contrast Varget in my 260 shooting 123 SMK has...

Range Report 6.5 mm, 123 gr. vs. 139

Re: 6.5 mm, 123 gr. vs. 139 Thanks for the input guys. I will make one comment on some of the comments. The best ballistic programs out there can be trusted. If you think real world experience trumps those programs then your inputs are suspect. I highly recommend Byran Litz's latest book...

Range Report 6.5 mm, 123 gr. vs. 139

I have determined that in my .260 the 123 SMK has a slightly flatter trajectory than the 139 Lapua or 142 SMK for the velocities that I shoot. The wind drift is the same for both bullets in a 5 m.p.h. wind at 1000 yds. The precison is approximately the same for the 123 and the 139. For tactical...

    Gunsmithing PTG

Re: PTG I have run a short action PTG bottom for about 6 months and am very happy with it. I use Alpha type II and AI mags. The Alpha type II is good except it is very hard to insert into the bottom metal with 10 rounds. The mags swell on the sides and then have an interference fit. Most...

Rifle Scopes Ranging with NF NXS

Re: Ranging with NF NXS It is also possible to range at 11 power and 5.5 power easily. You will see a white dot on the power ring at 11 power. at this power your graduations on the reticle are worth double what they are at 22 power. That would be 4x at 5.5 power.

    Rifle Scopes Bedding Scope Base?

Re: Bedding Scope Base? When I bed mine I put a heavy coat of past wax on the screws and in the receiver screw holes. In fact I fill the holes up solid with wax. You will not have a problem with the screws being stuck if you do this. I also put a coat of past wax on the receiver and buff it...

Rifle Scopes A comparison of two USO scopes, plus NF

I have been wanting to do this for a while so today was the day. I took two of my rifles to my steel range to check the difference in time in usable light when acquiring a target. The two scopes are SN-3s, 5.5-22. One has a 44mm objective and the other is 58mm. Both scopes were initially set at...

    Scope Ring TORX Help

Re: Scope Ring TORX Help Do not discount the idea that you may have english and metric mixed. There is just a few thousands of an inch difference between some english and metric...

    CFE223 Good Results

Re: CFE223 Good Results I tried it in 308 under 175 SMK and I got the lowest SD (4) that I have ever gotten in any load. Unfortunately I also got the worst grouping that I have ever gotten in that gun. It was about 1.5 MOA as I recall. I tried several charge weights but not much change. I...
