Powder burn speed, pressure, and velocity question

@918v, I know I've gotten some solid advice from you, but RE26 in 308 isn't one I'd consider.

Powder burn speed, pressure, and velocity question

Your rifle/components/seating depth/neck tension/etc. may not reach 2625 with the same load as published Check some other manuals for powder weights. You will see there can be a pretty large difference from each. What is Bergers max charge weight? Are you close to it? With a 168 I think you...

Powder burn speed, pressure, and velocity question

I got pressure signs really fast with CFE223 in .308 with Sierra 175TMK Work that stuff up carefully.

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Looking for pressure/velocity on a 20 Practical 24" AR. 40 gr Berger, H335, Norma USA Brass, CCI BR. Berger manual stops at 24.1gr, Sierra 39gr goes way higher. Started at 23.2 going to 25gr in .2 increments. 5 each. 25gr got me 3630fps with no pressure signs. Looks like I can go higher...

Wilson Arbor Press w/ Force Measurement

A tip I got from another member is to dump about half the ceramic balls out. This keeps them from spilling out when inserting cases and gets better distribution when shaking. A dab of graphite goes a long way.

Wilson Arbor Press w/ Force Measurement

Try the Redding Graphite. https://redding-reloading.com/online-catalog/162-imperial-dry-neck-lube-convenience-pak I use the same press set up as you. I see about 30-35lbs max iirc. I anneal eveytime. I also use a mandrel instead of relying on a bushing. Calipers aren't a great tool for...

Trijicon RMR or Crimson Trace laserguard

RMR. Shoot both eyes open. Focus on the target and bring the dot to bear. Practice, there is a little learning curve. Not a laser fan. RMR should be less than $650.

Recently got a new Android phone, Strelok Pro moved over flawlessly keeping all my data with smart switch. Not sure if Google supports "smart switch". BTW Igor is still answering emails and has been helpful with reticle questions.

Dang it! I think I finally solved the puzzle.

Gas operated?🤔 Passed over the 340PD for the 329. The wood grips while pleasing to the eye, as many have said, should be a criminal offense to ship on the gun without a disclaimer. Double check function with factory and hand loads. An insufficient crimp turns ot into a kenetic bullet puller...

    Small Powder Charge Dangerous?

Most prevelant with slow(er) burning powders and low percentage case fill. Powder ignition is inconsistent. 2 rough schools of thought, one the powder is laying horizontal and the longer area is ignited versus the base of the column. Or possibly the charge ignites and pushes some of the powder...
