Hunting & Fishing One or maybe 2 rifles for SOUTHERN Africa

Got the bid on the job, but at half what I bid. Probably heading back to Merica and figure this shit out again. Contracting is dying out, too many jobs gone in Afghanistan, Iraq and Djibouti. The market is flooded assholes like me who will go anywhere to make a buck.

Hunting & Fishing I'm traveling from Missouri, where should I go prairie dog hunting?

The problem with PDs is that we are one bad year, and one big mouthed liberal asshole away from losing them to the Endangered Species act. The idiots monitor places like this, so be very careful about what you talk about concerning prairie dogs, marmots and ground squirrels. They aren't...

    New Rig!!!!

I went with the 6.5x47, and I personally won't build another 6.5 for anything. The 243 WCF is where it is at. Cheaper everything, better brass (RWS), more bullets, burns barrels quicker but only wannabes who never burn out a barrel bitch about a caliber being hard on barrels.

6mm Caliber Barrel life and Caliber Choice (6CM/6XC/.243, etc)

Agreed, availability of componants is more important than barrel life.

    Hunting & Fishing 375 wsm

I have both as well and a 378 Weatherby. Unless you are a massochist don't get a 378. Personally if elephant is on your wish list you want something bigger than a 375. A 375 may be legal, but it's like shooting a mule deer with a 243, there are much better moustraps. Nothing wrong with a 416...

Hunting & Fishing One or maybe 2 rifles for SOUTHERN Africa

Honestly I have been thinking about a 375 H&H a lot, coupled with a 30-06 I don't see how I could go wrong. My idea is to build 2 of the exact same rifle just different calibers.

Hunting & Fishing One or maybe 2 rifles for SOUTHERN Africa

I am in the Nelson stack for a job, depending on each nations supervisor and the local rules, is what is governing me bringing a rifle. I have hunted Namibia and lived in Djibouti, so I am pretty familiar with how African governments can well..... be fucked up. Ideally I'd bring 3 or 4 rifles...

Hunting & Fishing One or maybe 2 rifles for SOUTHERN Africa

CZs are shit the way they come from the factory. They need about $1000 worth of love to become a good rifle.

Hunting & Fishing One or maybe 2 rifles for SOUTHERN Africa

I am in the midst of getting a new job lined up, and I might have the chance to bring a rifle or two with me to Africa. I'll be there for 2-4 years depending on how long their contract last. Right now they have 28 months on it, and they might get to extend. Here's the reality of our move...

Hunting & Fishing Rockchucks while on a driving vacation

Glad you were able to make it work. My Grandfather treated them as though they were big game, he grew up in Bavaria in the 1920's before emmigrating and fighting in Europe as an American. When he was a kid they were sacred, so they kind of always have been to our family. We shoot a few and...

    $1000 to upgrade rifle

Everyone has penis envy on what they think you should have. Is it good finances to rebuild a Remington M700? That's up to you, if you choose the right smith they can make it work. If you choose the wrong one and get very unlucky you just shit $950 for a barrel job and action truing for...

    Broken foot boot questions

Not quite, I broke it in 2009. Dumb ass MD back then said that it didn't need anything, just to keep off it. Well here we are almost 5 years later and the podiatrist I saw this morning said it looked like my foot was 90 years old. I told him it felt old. Anyhow, the Podiatrist said that...

    Broken foot boot questions

Yeah, here's the thing. I wear a buisiness suit to work every day. Danners and Chippewas are not going to cut it. Can't look like my feet are ready cut timber while I have the blue powersuit on.

    Broken foot boot questions

Until I have my next career choice figured out I need to wear a suit and suck it up, as I am the sole provider for a family of 5. The podiatrist is telling me I need to wear hiking boots to protect my screwed up foot. As I need some serious support and serious insoles. I am thinking of...

Hunting & Fishing Rockchucks while on a driving vacation

Here's the problem with rock chucks, everyone hammers them, so if someone knows of a place they don't tend to relase in the information. I like to take a few a year and leave some for seed on the parents ranch. Saying that we don't have crops to protect, and our livly hood isn't based on that...

    $1000 to upgrade rifle

You are putting the cart before the horse. Buy a new barrel and send it to someone to the action recut. Buying anything for a look, will probably result in shitty performance. I think a new Hart barrel installed with action truing is about $950. Shop around, Chad Dixon is using a CNC machine...

Hunting & Fishing Where to MOVE

A friend of mine on another forum likes to tell prospective residents that Wyoming, the Dakotas and Montana are full, and not accepting anyone else. We are obviously not that smart. The new string of windmills spread across ranches bought by non-Northern Great Plains folks is really starting...
