Is Long Range Shooting Any Fun?

It's kind of like a boat, or horses or any other thing you can throw money at and then more money all for a frustrating purpose. I first got into it as a hunter, then as a F-Class competator and now as a PSR competator. I am not really anal rententive enough to be good, as more than a couple...

    Terry Cross

Take a deep breath, count to ten, I am sure he is fine. I got an email from him about a week ago. Because every MOH fanboy in the world is ordering his stuff, or calling/emailing about ordering his stuff he is busy.

    .30-06 rifle build, input appreciated

I shot my F-Class rifle as a 30-06 as it was built for a long time. Tikka T3 Varmint stainless synthetic. Put it in a manners and shot almost 1400 rounds out of it. Still have the barrel and I'll throw it in another rifle later on, as it was a 3/8ths of inch rifle.

    30 boo boo for ELR?

Worse case scenario order 500 rounds of RWS from Johannsen in Germany or Triebel Online Shop, they charge a $50 import fee on top of their prices, but since you aren't paying German tax on it, it's usually cheaper than America.

    30 boo boo for ELR?

We have a guy in our F-Class club shooting a 7mm Boo Boo, shoots well but the addded cost of brass is a pain in the butt. I love RWS brass, 100 rounds should last the life of a barrel, it's amazing stuff. Guy could do a 300 Win Mag and get set up with RWS brass, that way if the supply chains...

new long range project and lost in caliber choice

I built a 6.5x47, I won't build another one. Not that it is a bad cartridge, but out of the 5 that I have had a hand in building mine was the only one that didn't have verticle problems at 600+ yards. I'd build a 243, and shoot the new Bergers or 115 DTACs. Easy brass, just might need a new...

    military credential verification

My guilty pleasure during my time in was to send someone to the DAPA or kick out a douche bag for drugs. I caught one of the command Russian drug dealers in the act at the barracks one night in Italy. If a guy subscribes to High Times magazine, odds are you will catch him eventually. For some...

Gunsmithing Heaviest reasonable barrel contour on Howa, Tikka and Remington?

Sounds good. I guess I'll give it a try, worse case scenario, I'll unscrew it and recut the threads for a stouter action.

    military credential verification

Graham, Wonderfully put: "Unfortunately, recognizing this form of courage has the effect of camoflaging the incompetence of those who bestow the award. Medals which accompany the waste of life are a trick of military incompetence - in lieu of life itself, the individual gets a medal."

Sorry I should say FOREIGN officer, or SGT Major, never for the foreign enlisted infantryman in the field.

After 20 years of service, I can only say that you will never get an award for the 99% of the times you killed yourself for the Nation working like a dog. I personally think awards are BS, even the silver star, and especially awards like the Legion of Merit. I probably hate the Legion of Merit...

My mentor is mostly a F-Class/fullbore smith.

Gunsmithing Heaviest reasonable barrel contour on Howa, Tikka and Remington?

I am a smith, I am looking for another smith to tell me yeah or neah. Well I'll put that caveat as I am a still learning how to be a smith. I have only chambered 30 barrels, and built about 4 stocks from scratch. Not bad for part time over the past 3 years.

    .375 Cheytac questions

Interesting, on the 375 over the 408. How many manufacters are there for bullets? ...... Ok, I'll edit this to say, I found a few sources of both. Looks like the 408 might have a couple more, but the 375 has the Sierra SMK, that in itself is worth it.

    .375 Cheytac questions

Watching this thread, as I have similar Chey-Tac interest in a similar build. Stiller, XLR, but I am still thinking 408.

Gunsmithing Heaviest reasonable barrel contour on Howa, Tikka and Remington?

I want to put a 26 AMU on one of these 3 actions. The biggest barrel I have put on a Tikka before is a #7 Krieger.

Rifle Scopes Mark 6 vs Mark 8 Battle rifle optic

You are using the term battle rifle, so to me this means a M14, Ar10/308 and so on. I think 3 power is too much for close in shooting. I would pick the first choice. But I can't see using a 308 as a close in weapon system.

I have 2 dd214s, one from my first 6 years, and then another one when I came back in and retired. Nothing will keep your DD214 from being accurate like a clearance job. I was (am) a fat douche bag aircraft maintainer, who got lucky and got a clearance job. Got to deploy to some cool places...
