PRS Talk First PRS Practice recommendations

I’m shooting at my first PRS match at the end of next month and I’d like to get out and practice at least twice before the match. What would you experienced shooters recommend? I have access to tons of pallets I plan on using for barricades. Any specific drills that will help?

    Made a Rear bag

That’s a cool idea, I think I paid $10 for the can of airsoft bbs and it used all of them and could have used a handful more.

    Made a Rear bag

It is a little heavy but not any more than a rice bag of the same size. As for stability it seems to works quite well, and provide a nice solid feel if you do your job setting things up well, if I’m lazy and just try to rush the shot by squeezing the bag too much it isn’t the greatest, but all...

    Gunwerks Brass.

Yes I understand that Hornady makes the 7lrm brass and dies for them, like you I don’t know what that means for the other brass. I guess I’ll find out when it arrives

    Gunwerks Brass.

Anyone else get an email from gunwerks that they are now selling brass? It looks pretty good, don’t know who is making it for them, but I ordered 100rds of 6mm creedmoor Brass and it’s supposed to be delivered tomorrow. Anyone else order some? I’m looking forward to seeing what it will do

Hunting & Fishing 300wm rifle recommendation for Elk hunt

That’s awesome that you got drawn for and elk hunt. Where is it? Here are the two rifles I’d consider if I was gonna but a factory rifle. With the price point of these you can get a nice Jewell or Trigger tech trigger and add an AICS magazine set up and still be under $1500...

Anyone done a spartan race or similar?

I did a tough Mudder back in 2012 and it was a bunch of fun though I was not in shape to run a 12 mile obstacle course! Last year I did the spartan Beast 14+ Miles in Brekenridge, CO it sucked! But at the same time it was awesome. The entire course was on the ski slopes and i think all of it...

    Made a Rear bag

Believe it or not the first one I made was the bottom of a pant leg off a BDU filled with rice. It didn’t work great in the rain.

    Finishing a Blank McMillan Stock

I think you did an awesome job on that! The paint is cool too! The grip texture looks a little rough for me but it probably feels more comfortable in person than it looks in the picture. I’m sure it gives fantastic grip though!

Talk to me about installing my own barrel

I have all these tools and no longer use them since I bought a lathe and mill. If you are interested I can make you a deal and show you how to use them. (Except the barrel vice action wrench reamers and headspace gauges, I still use those)

Talk to me about installing my own barrel

The tools you will need to complete one are as follows. 1. Barrel vice 2. Action wrench 3. Reamer T-handle 4. Reamer to match chamber 5. Headspace gauges 6. Cutting oil If you want to lap bolt lugs and clean up the action you will also need 1. Bolt lapping fixture (threads into action has a...

Talk to me about installing my own barrel

With that said I started out building rifles without a lathe or mill and made some really accurate rifles. The secret is prethreaded short chambered barrels. These type of barrels are much better than Remage or savage barrel nut in my opinion.

Talk to me about installing my own barrel

The switch lug is not within the realm of possibility for a DIY job. A very precise taper must be machined into the barrel tennon upon which the lug clamps to provide tension between the barrel shoulder and receiver face.
