How old when you first broke 1000 yds?

40 - way too long to wait.

Sidearms & Scatterguns Load for XDS .45?

I use 230 grain bullets with a middle of the range charge of whatever appropriate powder I happen to have on hand, and have never had any problems.

Gunsmithing Any reason not to rethread a TRG?

That's exactly what I had done to my TRG22. No complaints here.

    Suppressors Subsonic Suppressed Hunting Rifle

I've been doing exactly what you are looking to do. Subsonic suppressed hunting 50-75 yds on whitetail deer. Have both a 300 BLK and 308 Ruger Scout rifle (16.5 inch barrel 10 twist). I prefer the Scout rifle for this application, the bolt action is quieter to the shooter, and marginally quieter...

    New bolt knob options

Paul, If you are willing to tackle the job on a TRG I would be very interested. Here's an older post that shows how the TRG handle goes together. i would think something in the relm of the conversion handle would be required, or make one all one piece out of steel...

Gunsmithing Input on what happened to this brass...

MtnCreek, I'm wondering the same thing. And If the wrong powder was used, I would expect there would be more of them unfired as evidence. I'm no expert in this matter, but could it be an unintentional light charge causing a secondary explosion effect? Always a concern when working up subsonic...

    New bolt knob options

I think this would be really sharp, but he would probably have to turn a one piece handle / knob to make it work.

    TRG 22 Bolt Problem

You are exactly right, there is spring resistance when you open the bolt after pulling the trigger. You are cocking the firing pin spring. Look at the silver cocking tab on the bottom of the back of the bolt, as you lift the bolt handle it rides against the ramp cut in the ring around the bolt...

USO's "new" swivel level, is it level?

Mine is not level with the top of the rail at all. If my rail is level, then the bubble is on the right side of the window, about 1/2 a bubble off. It's not a deal breaker for me, I just leveled the rail, and marked where the left edge of the bubble should be with a silver sharpie. Even with...

    Sidearms & Scatterguns Xds owners?

Love mine, Have put 1k+ rounds down range without a single failure, I'm now looking for a good warm weather holster for it that I can wear while at work.

$6,000 and a favor, give me some recommendations on what to get.

BMK, What product lines does your dealer friend have access to? If he's only able to get typical sporting arms that's one thing, but if he is already hooked up with Barrett, AI, SAKO, or other high end product that puts you in a whole different world. Sounds like you are looking for something...

Cool side-by-side pic of early model HOG Saddle

The MOD7 is definitely on my short list of gear to buy as soon as they show in stock.

    Sako Trg 2013 upgrades

I will be real interested in a review of the new trigger once someone gets one. I can't fathom how they could make it any better, perhaps more robust, but I've never had any real issues with mine. And while I love the fact that the trigger guard is now metal, I can't say I've ever heard of one...

    TRG 22 Bolt Problem

I would do a good cleaning. Clean the bolt lug recesses in the action, disassemble the bolt, clean, then relube. Make certain you lube the back of the bolt lugs and the area on the cocking piece where the firing pin rides on the back of the bolt. I would guess at least one of these friction...

TRG Mag falling out during recoil

If the aluminum block in front of the mag is adjusted properly and the back of the mag itself is flat and not deformed, then I would think the only thing left is the Mag release spring. If you have a trigger pull gauge, you could test it. My mag drops free at about 5-1/2 lbs.

Sidearms & Scatterguns back pocket concaled carry

I've been using my XDS in a front pocket carry. The holster is one that I made with the help of a friend that owns a saddle shop who did the stitching. Something like this could work for back pocket, but they would have to be big back pockets. Having the outer piece of leather cover the grip...

Rifle Scopes 300 AAC Blackout Reticle Choices

I had a chance to look through the Leupold scope made for the blackout. I may have to try it, The BDC reticle has hashmarks on the left for subsonic in 50 yd increments out to 400 yds and supersonic out to 800 yds. The center aiming point is illuminated red. Haven't had a chance to shoot with...

F T/R Competition Lapua Palma Brass wih 185gr Bergers

I've been using them for the last month or so because it's all I could find in stock. I've been using Remington 7-1/2 BR primers in temps as low as 27 degrees with no problems, and the accuracy has been excellent with 175 SMKs. The only issue I have with them is that the flash holes are very...

    F T/R Competition New to F Class / Introduction

They just changed the format of their site this week, it looks like there is still some info missing. If they run them like last year, there were 20 or so shooters at each event, and the cost was around $35 for non members to shoot. They also run a Long Range Challenge Match that is fun, it's a...
